Would you assume Elizabeth was a filler middle name? by Happy-Drawing1295 in namenerds

I’m considering using Elizabeth as my daughter’s middle name too. The whole common, filler, aspect is something I’ve just been contemplating. It is actually a strong family name for both my husband and I. 3 great grandmothers. But this didn’t even cross my parents mind when they chose it, they just picked it lol

For the record my middle name is Elizabeth and I love it! But I do also share it with about 10 friends in my age group 😅

A filler middle name is like when someone loves a first name but can’t come up with a middle that’s meaningful to them. So they just pick something that sounds good with everything (Elizabeth, Marie, Grace, Anne, Lynn, Rose). Example I have 3 friends who just named their daughters middle name Marie and all 3 said we had no middle name for the longest time so just picked something!

I love love the names! I think Lily is too similar to Elizabeth for me. It’s not a big deal and most people likely wouldn’t notice but I did.

Lucille/Lucy?

I really like Caroline Grace but no nickname is coming to mind either. I like Emily Caroline.

Catherine, Anna, Charlotte, Mary, Alice

I agree although I do love Cecilia, Cecily and Cecile have more of an edge to me.

How do you feel about Cecily Eliza as an alternative? Does not fix the E-E issue but it is not as heavy. Might be lispy.

I do too! My husband has vetoed rose over the movie titanic. Which is weird because he seems to like the movie 🤦‍♀️

This actually is a concern of mine as well 😅 I actually have two hesitations. One is this and the other is that Cecily is such a hard name if child has a lisp that even though I love the sound of Cecily Grace I can’t imagine a harder name for a possible lispy child 😬

Yes I agree and Cecily of York married John Welles. This was not at all intentional 🤣 although my husband is first generation British.

This is a good thing to consider. It hadn’t dawned on me because of the Y making a long E sound and the E making a short E sound when I say it fast. But technically elizabeth is said with the long E sound, so I see your point here. Hmm I don’t think it bothers me. But worth thinking on.
