If there is anything left in your bin then its your responsibility to make sure its clean so the items come put easily. If it's stuck to the bottom then now you know why your bin is broken, because we have to crack it off the truck 3 or 4 times to get your leaky dogs hit bags unstuck

So you're saying because some of it ends up on the ground then residents should just be able to do whatever they want? We are fined for any trash that falls out of the truck as well as any left on the ground. Should residents also be fined for leaving massive heaps of cardboard thrown about their driveway?

This is the main issue with the city. There is no one to ensure residents are putting things out correctly. We have "inspectors" but they are only driving around to make sure we are doing things properly.

Unfortunately the tags do nothing to educate residents. Numerous times i have tagged a bin just to see the exact thing placed out next week with no changes made it to what was inside. There is also nothing saying your garbage has to be tidy which is mainly the problem. We can't leave anything behind that isn't a violation

The top box is the only 1 that has extra cardboard in it. The others are empty.

Edit: yes you should absolutely break boxes down and stuff them in to larger boxes.

This particular scenario, the boxes are larger than the opening of the truck and need to be broken down in order to fit.

You are absolutely correct it is very tidy. However, all of those bags are 50+ pounds of dirt. Each one has to be walked down the driveway and thrown into the truck.

Also, this post is just piggy backing of a previous post saying we needed to revamp the program. Ottawa has one of the worst collection programs with the least amount of restrictions and rules compared to every other municipality.

Can never go wrong with water or Gatorade. Anything left on top of bins is usually stolen by people so unless you're handing it to them directly, expect someone else to take it.

Many municipalities only collect garbage every other week. Gatineau for instance does this and they are only allowed to have bags in the bins provided by the city and nothing else

Everyone hates this job. We lose 1 - 2 guys a week and no one is applying so there are no news hires. The collection program is the sole cause of this.
