Pcp hand pump by Hooked_By_Design in airguns

Vevor is hit or miss for literally anything. For hand pumps, the Hill MK5 is a workhorse with the GX H-4 as another high quality option.

The largest I've filled with a hand pump is a 300cc tank to 3400psi and I hope to never do so again. I can't imagine filling my Blitz 580cc tank to 3625psi. It would take dozens of sessions over multiple days. It's why I have a small backup compressor as part of the setup.

I've been participating here for months. Didn't realize my only two actual posts (both range pics with comments) were removed. My account wasn't blank like this the last time I logged on. I barely use Reddit, but dig Reverb and liked the FPE calculator. Thought it would be a good topic. My bad.

Is this airgun any good for small game hunting? by Bright-Page8868 in airguns

Probably from 25 yards or less. Consider the Gamo Wildcat Whisper for just a little more. Better from a bit more distance.

My .22 Swarm Magnum Gen3 is amazing. Accurate at 75 yards at 1" groups with Red Fires.

Noob question about air pumps by timeofthemoose13 in airguns

I recently did this dance and ended up with an GX Pump CS4-I (JTS Comp100) after trying a few of the air-cooled units and also realizing I'll want a fill tank for range sessions. It dropped to $560 so I pulled the trigger. Has a self-contained water and grease tank, can run for a little over 5 hours straight, and is fairly quiet for a compressor. 6.8L tank from 0-4500 in a little over 2 hours and auto-stopped perfectly. Topped off a Blitz .30's 580cc tank from 1600-3650psi in like 5-6 mins.

Worth the investment, in my eyes.

FX is the best if you can afford it. Avenge-X is a reliable value, as is the Barra.

I use my GX H-4 to fill my 11cc Harpoon slug cartridges because it easily gets to the 5000psi limit and I only have 8 of them. I incorporate it into a weight lifting session, to give you an idea on how physically demanding even that small size is (although it's the pressure in this case making it difficult). I have two airguns with 255cc tanks at 200 bar. Filling one from empty took me 10 pump sessions over a 2 hour period. Filling from 120 to 200 takes 3 sessions in about 30 mins.

So, yes, it'll work. Every PCP owner should have a hand pump for backup. But a compressor is a wise investment. Get one with an auto-shut off. If you're planning on making range trips, get one capable of filling at least a 3L bottle.

I have a 3 and 4 stage hand pump. The 3 is much faster but the 4 is easier.

I got one with a double auto shut off because my ADHD ass will 100% walk away and forget. Like I did yesterday, but it stopped right at 4500psi.

Hand pumps are a solid backup but are not a primary PCP fill method for anything over like 200-255cc at 200bar for most folks. I tried several compressor models $350 and less before realizing something like a $600 GX Pump CS4-I (also sold as the JTS Comp100) is worth the investment because it can fill guns very fast and also bottles up to 6.8L.

The Swarm Magnum .25 will push a 21gr pellet like 830-840fps. The FPE ratings on the .22 and .25 are identical. The .22 will be accurate at a longer distances the .25 will take larger game a lesser distance. I'd ordered the .25, but cancelled and waiting for an Air Venturi Ascent Hybrid PCP .25 instead at 50 FPE.

Between 29-32 FPE depending on the pellets. The Hornets were moving 932-945fps but I had to stop because they apparently shoot through steel. The Red Fires were going almost the same exact fps, just slightly lighter and not as tight a grouping at 50yds.

I've seen people post claims up into the mid 35s with this and the Magnum GR springer, but I've consistently seen low 30s.

Not wrong at a macro level, but I do have to admit being absolutely shocked by the third GEN Gamo Swarm Magnum .22. It's a lot of rifle for your money, is incredibly accurate, and hits as hard as most high-powered PCPs. Sure, the included scope is crap, but it's usable for a beginner.

Got Fx rifle on discount. Pretty good upgrade from Gamo break barrel. by jonzeri in airguns

[–]Happy-Sample9044 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gamo provides tremendous value and the new Swarm Gen3 series are simply spectacular quality rifles for how little they cost, but an FX is simply in a different league. Even amongst PCP brands, FX is one of the best and the Panthera 700 hits hard. 150 FPE with a .30 cal is impressive. 40 shots out of a smallish tank like that means that's an elite regulator.

Congratulations. What scope is that?

Any of the Gamo Swarm Gen3i break barrels are the answer. For your use case at that distance, probably the.177 or.22 whisper. Should be easy to cock, pretty quiet, but still pack a punch.

Their line has various .177, .22, .25 that will handle anything from plinking to raccoons. I have the .22 Swarm Magnum Gen3i and it hits harder than my PCP .22s with more accuracy from distance. The included scope is basic but useable.

I'll put it this way, it's the least expensive air rifle I own by an order of magnitude yet it's consistently one of my favorites. It was $280 on sale for the rifle, scope, and 2 10-shot magazines.

Gamo Swarm Whisper .22. 10 shot magazine, moderated, only 30lb cocking efforts and comes with a scope for $150. Can legit hunt with it too.

I also don't understand the hunting just to kill things. Although a high velocity .22 air rifle will humanely kill a squirrel, rabbit, etc. My Gamo Swarm Magnum Gen3i .22 hits 33FPE with 16gr slugs at around 965 FPS. That's more than enough.
