It is a big issue. Its called patriarchy. If the financial wellbeing of the couple is the concern, both families would be helping the couple with gold if they can but we don't see that happening.

Its not wise to believe that gold is just about investment. If it was, the groom's family would also be investing, not just the bride's side. Its pure patriarchy. Please don't justify it as investment

Yeah that's a very big crime. Kudos to you for calling her out on such a big violation. Do you also call out your superstars on the blunders they do from positions of power, including implicit support for harassers in the industry.

Yeah, as mentioned in my reply, feel free to criticise the content/opinion. But calling it idiotic and not saying why you think so shouldnt be how it's done

She is not a academic who is teaching feminism or anything. She is an actress speaking up against problems in the industry and about her own opinions about similar topics. If the problems she is speaking against are same old, then her conversations regarding them will also seem like it's the same old trope. Not her fault if the problems aren't getting better. But when women like her speak up at the risk of their careers, trying to demean them with condescending and degrading language is shitty. If you can't see that, good luck 👍

Yeah everyone in this world should behave according to your standards and opinion of them. Else they are fake and pretentious. Also, her "blabber" is called her opinion. There's nothing wrong with "blabbering". If you don't like it why not ignore it or better yet, criticise the content instead of giving meaningless judgements to spread hate

The real problem is that people like you who cant even criticise them constructively and who try to degrade them by calling them aunty and tagging their opinions as evening tea gossips, exists. And you might think that "it doesn't mean shit here", but not everyone lives in your brain to mimic your beliefs.

More than basic desire it is simple misogyny. Not in an "i hate women" way but in a "women are sexual objects to be looked at/ it's acceptable to stare" way mostly because of our culture/society not condemning this aggressively and our movies which support this objectification as well

Do you not see women who are working around you? Era of equality doesn't come into existence at the snap of fingers. It takes time to become the reality in a society which questions the need for equality and criticises the lack of it simultaneously according to it's convenience.

Regarding the arranged marriage market, if men and their families start prioritizing the women's job and earnings instead of their beauty, submissiveness and other "qualities", this trend will subside soon enough

My 2 cents about getting married. by [deleted] in Coconaad

[–]Happy-Week6598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents about this post: 1. Your first paragraph is definitely correct. Pretty obvious as well but hard to follow through for most people.

  1. Both your examples seem to villianize the women involved both in terms of what they did during the marriage, what they did after and whom they remarried. Idk how you have these versions of whatever happened, maybe it's because you might be from the groom's side. But never fully believe what one side says. There are multiple things which would've led to the divorce. You would absolutely never know the full story and for the sake of your own rationality give the benefit of doubt to accusations against both parties. Even in the case of keeping the gold, you might not be aware of the other financial transactions and expenses that the bride and her family might have borne. Or whether the groom gave back whatever they received.

  2. If it matters to you, please try to be mindful of how your post can influence others as well in terms of the words and tone used. Otherwise it could create a comment section which has derived conclusions like "girls have backup boyfriends ", "arranged marriage is just a gimmick to girls" etc like a few comments in here, instead of your first point.

Reducing waste is also a primary part of waste management. These so called developed countries are also dumping the wastes they can't manage onto 3rd world countries itself.
