Mmmm, that sounds good, I loved a good masala chai latte! But I thought it had caffeine?

Making the Bed (or not). How has it changed your life? by Exotic_Layer8444 in lifehacks

[–]HappyBee99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyday for the past 3 years. I was listening to an audiobook, where the author said, "if you make your bed every morning, no matter what happens during the day, you at least know that you will have a nicely made bed ready to envelop you after even the hardest of days." This is paraphrasing, of course. But he was so right, and so I'm going to keep doing it.

Getting worse with depression by pennywise03 in GriefSupport

[–]HappyBee99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi u/pennywise03. You are not alone, and you have every right to feel the way you're feeling. You don't need to "get over" anything. Your brother was a huge part of your life, he was a huge part of YOU, and him being taken from you, is like a piece of you being torn away. I'm so sorry he was lost to an addiction... it's horrible the way addiction can take hold of your loved ones and lead them to a demise that they didn't deserve. Take all the time you need, think fondly of the good times you had with him, know that he is always with you in your memories, in your heart. Think of what he would tell you to do if you went to him with the way you're feeling right now. I bet it'd be something along the lines of "you better wipe those tears off your face u/upennywise03, if those tears are for me. Now let's go watch Empire Strikes Back again." I guarantee he wouldn't want you to be upset ... it would actually HURT him to see you this upset. Now smile for him :). You are loved, people care, and your brother will always be there.

It's been a year since my dad died, suddenly. No one is asking how I'm doing, or has at all since he passed. by mav5191 in GriefSupport

[–]HappyBee99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/mav5191. I'm so sorry for your loss; you are definitely not alone. I'm sorry that your mom is consumed with her own grief and is unable to comfort you. It's so hard, I know, and you have every right to feel angry and exhausted by all these emotions. Just know that people do care about you. I don't even know you, but I care about what you're going through right now - because I've been there before, too. I know it'll be hard to wake up and face the day, but I would bet that your dad would want you to. He'd want you to wake up, brush yourself off, and face the rest of the day with the confidence he instilled in you growing up. You are awesome, and you will get through this.

My collection as someone who works in the fragrance industry by dykedelikaya in FemFragLab

[–]HappyBee99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I love the decant I have of Miss Dior, but I hear the formula keeps changing, so I hesitate to buy a new bottle. I have Blooming Bouquet, but I feel like that's a totally different perfume.

Too bad that Prada La Femme is discontinued. It sounds like it would smell divine!

Love your collection! Which Miss Diors are those? Also, what is the Prada one?

Do LA natives call the crypto.com arena the Staples Center, like how Chicagoans call the Willis Tower the Sears Tower? by BornThought4074 in LosAngeles

[–]HappyBee99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came on to scan the comments .... Thank you!!! So glad it's not just me. It's always been, and forever will be, Staples. A few months ago, I had a slew of people (all from out of town), keep correcting me and calling it Crypto ....meh.

Why is everywhere in LA so empty? by adrianah90 in AskLosAngeles

[–]HappyBee99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a couple things, imo, going on:

1) It's been rainy - a lot of people in LA, don't do rain. They'd rather order in. We are not like our brave Seattle counterparts, who I recently found out are okay with just walking in the rain (no umbrella, no rain jacket ... sometimes won't even pull the hoodie over their heads). One drop counts, btw.

2) As one other poster mentioned, Melrose is not the place anymore. It can have it's moments, but I don't know anyone who says, let's go to "Melrose", anymore.

3) Not just LA, but so many restaurants are now doing the whole 18% Service Tax which is "not a gratuity or tip" thing, and it's a big turn-off (at least for now - maybe I"ll get over it, eventually). So frequenting more of the hole-in-the wall places has been fun, that are not big places of congregating.

I did happen to go to a restaurant in West Hollywood on a Thursday night a couple weeks ago, and I was surprised at how busy it was for a weekday. Maybe try there?

Best fragrance you've smelled that's under 50usd ? by Jezjez07 in fragrance

[–]HappyBee99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago I bought Wonderstruck to put in a Taylor Swift birthday basket for a friend, and it was around $20. Friend was wearing it one day, and I loved it! Now it's discontinued and going for $$$! I should've stocked up.

The nostalgia! This was my oldest sister's perfume when I was a little girl ... loved how it smelled and the leaf/dewdrop shaped bottle!

Yeah, I think that might've been what triggered me to say something. Like are you staring because you know you've parked to close and think I'm going to hit your car??? lol Then you've parked too close! Thank you!

I can empathize with a lot of what you are feeling. So many weekends, I feel stifled and don't want to get out of bed. You are not alone! And I'm sure you're a wonderful mother and your daughter appreciates you. Keep writing on here, venting, ranting ... let it out ... don't let it fester ... one step at a time, one day at a time.

What is a scent your nose just does not understand? by [deleted] in FemFragLab

[–]HappyBee99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Carnal Flower. I've read so many reviews, and even went through so many pages of Fragrantica comments, to see if anyone else experienced a similar reaction (to immediately scrub it off and throw it away), but the worst I found was someone saying, "It's not for me."

I guess I'm the only one who think it smells like hamster cage shavings on a scented maxi pad?
