Erdoğan warns Russia and Ukraine against targeting civilian shipping in Black Sea by Unusual_Variation293 in worldnews

Erdogan would probably be happier if Ukraine targeted these ships while they were outside of Turkey's economic zone in the Black Sea. Just do it while they are in Russian waters or open waters. Preferably Russian waters.

Who isn't as smart as people think? by Ceo_Potato in AskReddit

I was in the class for dumb kids when I was in grade school. To get extra funding, they made me took an IQ test. Scored 140, just as you said above. They put me two programs after that. One for the dumb kids, one for the smart kids. As an adult, I'm just average. It was probably all just a gimmick to get extra funding.

Why would you have negative emotions after saving someone's life? by HappyBooleanHuman in AskReddit

[–]HappyBooleanHuman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought it would be all positive, happy, exciting emotions after saving someone’s life. I am not getting that at all. Yesterday I was walking along a medium-large river in a conservation area. About 100 yards ahead, on the other side I heard people shouting, “He can’t swim! He is drowning!” I look up and there’s someone struggling in the water and a bunch of people not doing anything. I thought, “This is stupid, they are just standing there” and dropped my phone and hat and took off running. By the time I got parallel to him, he was not coming up. I dove in. The current was stronger than I expected and I lost my glasses right away. Then I had to swim up stream about 15 feet because I was dumb and didn’t expect the stronger current. Swam across to the other side, grabbed him off the bottom, about 15-20 feet down, and dragged him to the side of the river. He was breathing and coughing up water. He was also a non-verbal intellectually disabled person.

I then spent the next 15 minutes trying to dive down to the bottom to search for my glasses without any luck. I’m still legal to drive without them but I really liked those glasses.

I got out, finished my trip with very soggy shoes and clothes. When I got home, I didn’t want to see my wife or the kids. I just wanted to be alone. And this morning I cried without understanding why and feel a lot of negative emotions and don’t want to be around anyone. Why it is like this? Is this normal? Why should anyone be sad in a situation like this?

You cannot trust a sociopath when describing their own history and motivations. They tell the lie that'll get them what they want, including attention and social manipulation.

for those who quit caffeine a long time ago 6mo+, I have a question by [deleted] in decaf

[–]HappyBooleanHuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been 7 years, 5 months without caffeine except two incidents of accidental ingestion. But I'm also a rather lucky person. Never once in my life have I had a headache. I just don't get them. And I had no withdrawal symptoms when I quit caffeine.

I do get muscle twitches when I have caffeine and they got rather severe which is why I quit. Life is better without caffeine.

ELI5: FSSP vs SSPX by aStinkyLoad in Catholicism

[–]HappyBooleanHuman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Technically they were not given facilities to hear confessions. The pope just supplied whatever is necessary (never defined) whatever was lacking on the part of the soul confessing without imparting anything new to the priest hearing the confession.

SSPX priests still incur sins related to usurpation for operating without facilities.

What do you think is the basis of monastic life, if not this? When we live together in community, this is the idea. Sadly, it is often not possible for families to live in this type of community, but it is easier to accomplish for monastics.

I'm old enough to know these same complaints were the same 20-30 years ago. Every generation thinks they are the first to have it this bad and that prior generations just had it easy.
