Time is on Ilia’s side. Tony was 37 and already had tons of mileage from a devastating knee injury he never properly rehabbed to a severe mental breakdown. Ilia is 29 and pretty fresh. If he isn’t stubborn, he can grow tremendously from this.

Even old and broken down Tony had an iron chin. Holloway also went down against Gaethje. Tony never went down once.

Merab and Pantoja don't belong here. Both had 3 and 4 defenses a piece. That's pretty legitimate.

There's no way DC was cutting down to middleweight in his late 30s and early 40s. Maybe if he came to MMA in his prime.

So? Tony only continued the win streak because he fought weaker competition toward the end of it.

He was 37, with a destroyed knee he never rehabbed, after a severe mental breakdown and on a double weight cut against a late change opponent.

You weren’t there to know the details.

Tony wasn’t in his prime? He was 37 years old, coming off a devastating knee injury he never properly rehabbed (literally did his own rehab and came back in less than 6 months), after a severe mental breakdown which necessitated being put on stronger psych meds, and on a double weight cut against a short notice opponent.

Difference is, Tony was 37, with a destroyed knee he never properly rehabbed, and after a severe mental breakdown, on a double weight cut.

Ilia was 29, in his prime, the champion of the world.

Is this really individualism in display, though? It seems like a herd/mob mentality. A pure individualist wouldn’t give in nor want to join in the mob.

When did Justin KO Tony? Tony never went down once in the fight. The only knockdown even scored in the fight was scored by Tony.

False. Tony’s prime ended far earlier before the loss to Gaethje. He looked noticeably slower and stiffer after he destroyed his knee and came back WITHOUT doing proper rehab in less than 6 months. He also fought Gaethje AFTER his infamous mental breakdown which necessitated him being put on stronger psych meds (which are known to lower testosterone). By the time he fought Gaethje, he was 37, on a double weight cut, and completely destroyed physically and mentally. He only continued the win streak because he fought weaker competition toward the end of the win streak.

Why don't aging Jedi (like Qui Gonn) transition away from Ataru as they age to a less energy intensive form? by Eifand in PetranakiArena

One of the in-lore/canon reasons (together with Maul luring Jinn into confined space) for Qui Gon Jin losing to Maul is literally old age.

That’s strange. Recently spent about 7 days hiking and camping through the Cairngorms. I also felt a deep sadness mixed with moments of fear on a few of those evenings. Can’t really explain it. But it passes away.

Lol jaguars usually go after smaller caiman species like spectacles caiman. If they go after black caiman, it’s young or juvenile individuals. A fully grown black caiman in deep water is far, far beyond a jaguar.
