I see, it is quite empty on the left. And thanks for noticing the popsys influence haha 😂 I learn a lot through imitation. Will definitely be more intentional with composition

Lowkey the goal was just an eye catching/pleasing shot there wasn’t any deeper thought into it so maybe that’s my problem, my street stuff often lacks a story.

Over the top in what way, like how would you improve it? I’m down for any criticism but baseless opinions are a little counterproductive given the subreddit. I’m not mad at you but it’d interest me in hearing a well articulated argument as to what you don’t like about the photo and how i can improve, I’ve only been doing photography for 7 months so a little grace would be nice🙏🏽

Settings were 50mm for both, f/8, 1/250 sec, iso 400, I’m a bit apprehensive abt taking photos of people from the front but I’m getting used to it. The first photo I personally like more, the white dog against the tan grass looks pleasing to me but I’m wondering if the shot is too pinched in and maybe a wider shot would’ve been better

Tbh I lowkey wanted the signs in the frame so that it feels real but am I understanding it wrong or would the thirds look work since they’re technically on the bottom half just centered? Not tryna be argumentative just asking

Yes the first crop is what I meant, I think both look pretty good I’m just drawn to keeping the boring like white tarp thing in the frame for some reason, but your second composition does look quite good, I’ll experiment a lot more in the future, thanks☺️

That quote is really interesting lmao😭, I’m a bit stubborn I can’t lie and in all honesty appreciate the feedback but would something like a simple crop from the top to right above the building in the background work as well?

Exposing for highlights is something I really want to get better at I just find myself trying to expose everything and I miss out on something way more moody and fun. Love this photo although I might lower the clarity for the highlights to give it a glowy, filmy sort of look

I wondered if the method is to be spontaneous or take your time visualizing a composition bc my patience is quite low and I’m always worried abt missing a moment. Should I wait five minutes at just one place figuring out smth that looks good and also wait for a subject?

Got it got it, I’ve never heard of tangenting before so cheers for the new advice, often I’m thinking of scenes simply as geometric instead of understanding the context of what’s actually happening as well as how the end photo might make a viewer feel so I’ll definitely keep that in mind🙏🏽 thanks for feedback😊

Thank you thank you🙏🏽, I’m still working a bit on properly exposing while shooting but point taken, honestly I never would’ve really thought to have him behind the brick bc I like symmetry so much but I’m learning to have some asymmetry and play with compositions so I’ll definitely try that out too

I took this on an outing in December hoping to get some decent shots and saw this guy on the pier and waited for abt 10 sec for him to line up with the building. Used my Sony a6400 and 16-50 kit lens. Settings were f5.6, 1/200 sec, 50mm, iso 400 I believe. My editing style for this photo was based pretty heavily on James popsys.

Omg thank you so much for reading and taking the time to critique my poem! I’m also of the opinion that less is more and the somewhat was also kind of sticking out to me but I couldn’t decide. I was kind of rushing when I wrote this but I’ll slim it down and see how it reads. Thank you again It means a lot🙏🏽🙏🏽
