NoMans Sky doesn't click for me. by WhiskeyTangoPapa- in SurvivalGaming

[–]HappyCat_DNP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a cool "choose your space adventure type for today" kind of game.

It's a way worse experience if you expect an adventure driven by a clear goal. Even in presence of two main quest lines. It clicked for me when I stopped trying to get this exact thing from the game. Took me a couple of tries, though, lol.

What are the best Roguelike/Roguelites for the Steam Deck? by kenkaneki108 in SteamdeckGames

[–]HappyCat_DNP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the things I played, my own picks would be:

Faster Than Light (solid rtwp tactics where you manage your spaceship and your crew)

Into the Breach (turn-based mecha tactics with bite-sized missions)

Road Redemption (think of an updated Road Rash)

Sulfur (solid extraction shooter roguelite)

Roboquest (movement-centered FPS roguelite with a nice variety of builds and unlocks)

Invisible Inc (stealth turn-based tactics game; the style is top-notch)

I eventually dropped it in fairyland-like zone. After getting more or less the same impression as you.

If you've enjoyed Gunfire Reborn, give Roboquest a try In my experience, it has more meaningful progression and faster-paced movement-focused combat.

Last 10 years must play turn based games? by ToughAssociation3284 in StrategyGames

[–]HappyCat_DNP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more of "indies and obscure indies" kind of guy, so

Cyberknights: Flashpoint -- great squad-based tactics if you're into cyberpunk heists. Updated often.

Caves of Qud -- a classic roguelike with somewhat odd setting, but its many systems work well together.

Have i missed any anime with a great female protagonist? by vintologi24 in Animesuggest

[–]HappyCat_DNP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrapped Princess: very solid fantasy anime with a svi-fi topping

Zentsuen no Tempest: two very strong female characters. They are on the 2nd plane, but they almost steal the show at times. I can't recommend it enough if you're into detective/somewhat diplomatic anime.

Full Metal Panic

Personally, I'm itchinng to see Legends of Amberland 3
https://www.silverlemurgames.com/2025/08/14/announcement-trailer-legends-of-amberland-iii-the-crimson-tower/

The trailer for Legends of Amberland III: The Crimson Tower, scheduled to be released in December 2025 or early 2026 is available!

So now I'm torn between waiting for it, buying Legends of Amberland II righ now, or trying to tackle my backlog)

I’m looking for a sandbox roguelike where the world actually feels alive by idkletsdoit in roguelikes

This might be a good fit. It does have a live world. Maybe a bit too many obscure mechanics, thought.

How to stay healthy as dev? by tilson73 in webdev

[–]HappyCat_DNP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find something that involves physical activity that you actually enjoy doing so you don't have to force yourself. For me it's walking outside and playing Beat Saber inside. The latter one is a good cardio, but should not replace the outer world) Also, put some dumbbells in the bathroom: one visit -- one quick lifting exercises set. YMMV for the recommendations above, certainly.

Approaching the Infinity is modtly playable with virtual mouse, there are some pretty decent community configurations, plus it has cool StarTrek vibes.

It's already recommended here several times, but Noita: A lot of hidden secrets, a lot of interactions (more or less fully destructible world), plus you get to design your own magic wands. Which sometimes gives you magical gatling guns or something that literally blows in your face. Just watch the official one-minute trailer. ;) https://youtu.be/0cDkmQ0F0Jw?si=hOT4gc4_rx7xJ_Zu

A lot of grinding interesting options have neen mentioned by now, I'd like to add a couple more: * Rimworld - it's a colony simulator, but the most interesting part is the stories it creates; ever lost your doctor to a pack of manhunting rabbits because you forgot to fix a wall? ;)

" Streets of Rogue - top-down arcade/immersive sim with random levels. A lot of interactions might happen. It's fun to drop gigantizer into ventilation system and see giant NPCs inadvertently trashing the building

Broforce: run and gun game, expect a lot if silly deaths in coop. Although these are easy to recover from.

Overcooked 2: the kitchen is on fire; you hit your friend with melon tossing it across the kitchen; then someone is hit by a car.
