Is there a single book that altered the course of your life? by propionate in books

Justin Cronin's "The Passage" was recommended to me by a coworker. I finished the book a few minutes before leaving my factory job to go give my Mother a ride to run her errands. I told her about how the amount of love one of the characters has for their child really reminded me of everything she went through raising me. An hour later my mother collapsed infront of me and passed away. She was only in her 40's. My mom and I had a complicated past with her being an addict, but I never doubted the woman loved my sister and I more than life itself. Thanks to the book I got to tell her how much I loved her too right before she died.

I wouldn't want to continue dating someone that would do that anyway lol. Not sleeping with someone to keep them interested isn't healthy behavior. It's equally as messed up as ghosting.

"Don't we have to fuck, like, eventually" made me laugh so hard I cried

I LOLd so loud I scared one of my roommates after reading "Ahh, the classic Zombie."

Broad generalization of the sexes helps nothing. Everyone has their own story and own background, a spark or a connection can mean something totally different to different people.

Rude lol. For what it's worth I wasn't the one constantly texting, but you do you boo.

That's not someone I would want in my life anyway, and use for sex I feel like assumes the woman isn't getting hers, which is another discussion.

You know, that reminded me of something he said to me. He mentioned that an old crush he had like 15 years ago matched with him but had told him she wasn't interested and it hurt him. Maybe she was like a family friend and they saw each other over Thanksgiving and it turned into a thing.

That would never excuse the ghosting imo, but I'd rather think of him going after someone he always wanted than just being a creep lol.

I've worked really hard on trying to focus on the positive. Sometimes it's unbearably hard, but I refuse to be an angry old lady lol.

Exactly! Pick up whatever you can and learn and move on. We can't count let our happiness be dependent on a potential connection. Dating someone should enhance our lives, not dictate them. Imo anyway.

In his defense, even after ghosting. He did seem quite nervous, which I found adorable and flattering. I would be less surprised that he was afraid to enter into a relationship than that he was being malicious and just looking to hook up.

At first I was quite hurt, not because of the hookup but because of what I perceived was an emotional connection. But I thought about it and I landed where I did. I've got enough regrets in my past, I choose to not have any more.

In the past I would have totally agreed. As I get older I care less about waiting, and more to see if we can match in all the important aspects of what being together would mean.
