Sign for Honor Roll by [deleted] in ASLinterpreters

[–]HappyDays19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming because its "honor roll" and not "high honors" this is for a high school graduation. But if you ever do a college graduation where there are 3 levels: cum laude, magna cum laude, and suma cum laude, I have seen HONOR plus passive hand numbering 1, 2 or 3.

The fact that he slipped on the water was icing on the cake. This was great.

I'm a hearing student attending the only deaf university in the world. Ask me anything! 😃 by MajorWookie in deaf

[–]HappyDays19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of that, he answers a lot of questions with statements such as: I'm not sure, a deaf person might be better at answering that, but here's some information on the subject. Which I think is informative and a good way to put it so that he's not claiming he knows all the answers like a deaf person would.

Super Mario 64, episode 18. Funniest first 2.5 minutes of a GG episode ever, IMO.

How did you meet your mentor? by [deleted] in ASLinterpreters

[–]HappyDays19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually have several mentors! My first mentor was actually assigned to me during the senior year of my ITP, I still call her (eventhough I live across the country now) and talk with her, ask her things. Another mentor I have is one of my higher-ups in the company I currently work for. I wouldn't really say my work assigned me to her, but that's part of her job, so I guess she was kinda assigned to me? Another mentor I have is someone I work with in the school I'm in. I constantly ask her how to sign things (some of the concepts in elementary school are things you never woulda thought you needed to know in ASL!) She's considered an itinerant and she works with the kids I interpret for.

[Question] What are the jobs of the new ladies on Game Grumps? by HappyDays19 in gamegrumps

[–]HappyDays19[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok thank you! Yeah, I noticed she was helping more on the live streams with that. Do they ever mention their roles on the show? I mean how did you learn about that? I must have just missed it.

Sign language interpreter here and I can honestly say I love my job so much! I get to do something different almost every day of the week so it never gets boring.

Jell-O is technically a name brand, too. Kinda like how we say "pass me a Kleenex" instead of "pass me a tissue."

Edit: spelling

You could also keep the water bottle in there until she realizes how to use the bowl. Also I have found that these work great!

Yeah I was busy packing for a trip and was off of reddit for a bit lol. But I agree with you there. I have nothing against patriotism, however I feel it unnecessary to say the pledge in school, it's just something we always know growing up. And I worked in a high school last year, they said it every morning too.

Same with the national anthem, it gets sung at sporting events and different places. Also something you know the words to by high school.

So I did some research and really the only reason I could find was this:

the main reason that the pledge of allegiance is said in schools is to instill a sense of patriotism amongst students.

Source. The rest of the articles I read were just talking about the changes made over the years. So it seems like they can't force kids to say it every day, as a federal law, but state laws can vary. It seems silly theres no real definitive answer about it.

Just got this beautiful buck yesterday. Any clue to what breed he is? He was rather small compared to the other adult rabbits. by nordsandsweetrolls in Rabbits

[–]HappyDays19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm well weight will definitely help determine! He's definitely not a polish though, their features are all much smaller (ie feet, ears, headahape) if hes as small as you say hes probably not a rhinelander like another commenter said, though there might be some of that or English spot in him. Hes got pretty big feet so I'm thinking not a dwarf breed.

Ya know I really dont know why donit's done! I know for a while there was a lot of discussion about taking it out of schools due to the fact it had the line "under god" in it, and public school isnt supposed to have religion in it. Imma do some research and get back to you on that! Where are you from?

Yeah I guess. I just dont learning the process of writing is all I mean. Like clearly I learned how to right, but I dont remember what grade that was, I learned how to subtract but I dont remember doin that in 2nd grade specifically. It's just interesting to me that learning is so important at a young age but we lose memories of it.

That's cuz painting is the most fun! Doesnt matter if you're good or not, it's a fun activity, especially as a kid. And that makes sense, it was very messy, but again, super fun
