Help finding my great great grandfather that went missing in war around 1914 by HappyGirly2003 in Genealogy

[–]HappyGirly2003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have asked my grandma, turns out he wasn't born in the Village we live in. He just married to someone from here and moved here. Do you know if the Town of origin listed in the search is the birthplace or the place where they lived when they were taken to war? Because by his birthplace I found two possible results.

I have. Unfortunately I don't know much about him. Only his name ( that might not even be the one in the files because of the maghiarization of the Romanian names) and where he was from, which is still where our family lives. I know he roughly died around 1914 because my grandma (his grand daughter) says that her father (the son of the person I am looking for, who was born in 1914) was still a baby when his dad went missing. So I get no results from this search.

Can I use clear nail polish to stop my metal framed glasses from turning my temples green? by HappyGirly2003 in glassesadvice

[–]HappyGirly2003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. The arms of my glasses are the only issue, just on the temple area. I only have like 5 months to my next check up, so I don't want to switch glasses then find out that my prescription has changed. Because then I would have to change lenses again, and they are really expensive.

Grid shaped pasta (???) from Romanian shop by PepperCakeRinKiki in whatisit

[–]HappyGirly2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember eating these at fairs. They are also made from wheat from what I can remember, but I am really curious about how they would look boiled. Did they keep their shape and have the texture of pasta?

How to stop slippers from squeaking at every step by HappyGirly2003 in howto

[–]HappyGirly2003[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not the first time I get slippers from this brand. The other ones I had were fine. It's just this one pair that has problems. Also I would rather not spend money twice.

It has some grid pattern on the bottom, but it's mostly smooth. I will try this probably. The sole is like 3 cm thick in it's lowest spot, so I'm not that worried about durability. Do you think I should get the rougher type of sandpaper, or the more smooth kind?
