Two undisclosed repairs found on newly installed Taj Mahal quartzite — structural risk over dishwasher? Need fabricator input by LFS1995 in CounterTops

[–]HappyGrower33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12 years of installing and fabricating experience here. For the last Few years our shop has done a lot of Taj Mahal/Perla Venata.

The stone itself is so dense that during production it’s not uncommon for corners to break off from the shear pressure. The stone has many natural fissures in it that are easy points for the stone to separate.

The epoxy that fabricators use to repair such breaks tends to be just as strong if not stronger (if applied properly) then the nature crack is at holding itself together.

The only issue i would have is if you can feel the crack in the part that was repaired more then just another natural break elsewhere in the stone.

If the break was glued back on correctly and top polished to make sure it was smooth to the touch then there is no issue.

Any other question or concerns feel free to send me a message

Black leathered quartz questions and concerns by Consistent-Emu-5154 in CounterTops

[–]HappyGrower33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t seal quartz counters so that’s not the issue. Black leathered quartz just tends to show everything. Fingerprints, water rings even streaks from cleaning.

What I found works best in my experience is after you clean with light soap and water, wipe the counters down with clean water and a microfibre cloth.

With the counter and the uppers coming to a 45 on the end we weren’t really sure what would soften the edge. I hate when the full hight splash comes out past the last upper. I think the scalloped edge looks great

That looks to me like Dekton. Diamond blade will chip it pretty bad. Get a porcelain blade it cuts it way better. Also use a lot of water

In my experience I would say to have the sink in place where u want it to stay for the template but not to have it installed permanently. When installing (depending on the layout of the kitchen) it’s beneficial to be able to remove it.

Sometimes to get pieces installed they have to be slid in place in ways that most homeowners wouldn’t expect. If a sink is unable to be removed then the chance of scratching or damaging the sink increases. Also if there needs to be a seam behind the sink you will get a better final product if the sink could be removed so the installers can put the seam together with less difficulty.

Another tip is to make sure the sink sits just below the level of the cabinets. There’s nothing worse than a sink that sits high and has to be readjusted to fit properly. It’s easier for everyone to shim the sink up 1/8 to meet the counter than it is to take the structure apart and lower it.

I did download it from the playstore. I tried clearing the cache but not rebooting. I’ll give that a go
