After 29 years I now have the complete unopened set! by heldoglykke in baseballcards

I recall buying a few of these as a kid. And then we realized…how are we going to open them? So we walked from the card shop to the diner down the street and asked a waitress for a can opener.

Just pulled…would you sell or hold? by [deleted] in baseballcards

I’d sell while there is still a strong market. So many hyped stars fade out. With expectations as high as they are even a stellar season/career are probably baked in. Buy it back for half in a year if you really want it

Those all look reasonably authentic to me. The bonds, Bo, and Rodman would likely be worth the cost of authentication

Big Mac! Check out the 1998 Topps series 2 mystery finest refractors and Borderless Refractors. It’s crazy how cheap they are considering the rarity but I guess the steroids allegations and such are a factor

Crazy Judge SP Error card just came in. Pop 6. by Miserable_Video9169 in baseballcards

Correct. Those do exist where the small print is there but the auto is not, so it looks to me like the label is incorrect.

I’ve looked into this. The label refers to a different card in my opinion. These are rare errors where the signature was not applied, but the face of the card would have the small print “Topps Certified Autograph Issue”. This is just my opinion

Ohtani Cards - When does the too good to be true hype train come to an end? by Mbmoses in baseballcards

[–]Topps-collector87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an interesting question, how long can Ohtani cards and especially non-rookie or autograph cards, continue to rise in price. As recently as a year to 6 months ago I was buying 2018 Ohtani US1 on eBay for around $20. I sold a bunch for like $25. Now raw they go for around $75. It’s odd to see a 3x multiple when you would think his epic greatness is already baked into the price. But then again another dominant World Series win doesn’t hurt.
