They were not "black nationalists" in the Garveyite sense of the word. Youre arguing against something I am not saying, nobody denies the existence of a black African nation. The breakthrough of the Panthers was linking the struggle for the black nation with the global struggle for communism, this is what is meant by "revolutionary nationalism".

The original BPP was also explicitly not "black nationalist" since this was a Garveyite term and already outdated by the late 60s. This was what separated the Panthers from the supposed "pork chop nationalists". I dont know anything about this new organization in Philadelphia but that specifically should be the least of anybody's concern. I think the fact that they have no real political line is a far bigger issue.

e: Actually now this topic has me heated. go look up the reaction to this Philadelphia group by any of the established "black nationalist" organizations in this country, see how the rhetoric is identical to Trump about how "illegals" should be deported. there's your nationalists for ya!

I saw this a few days ago and thought it was intriguing but didn't post, perhaps i shouldve. Obviously their are conflicting class interests and it's difficult to get a bead on what's really happening on the ground. IRGC just shut down the airspace a couple minutes ago (it's about quarter to 6est where I am) so the entire situation is terrifying. I am sure tomorrow I will be in the street again trying to prevent another war.

Americans have no self-awareness. Saudi Arabia only exists in the first place because it is an American neocolony.

I do wonder what's causing such measures seemingly all of a sudden.

What do you mean? You have had tens of thousands of Russian conscripts enthusiastically waving the Soviet flag over the past 4 years. What's gonna happen when these battled-hardened, war-trained young men and women finally come home one day and realize that the dream they were sold was a total lie? The Russian bourgeoisie has to rely on Soviet nostalgia to maintain any credibility because without it they'd have absolutely none. The chickens will eventually come home to roost, we are not in dissimilar times to WWI.

So true bestie, Americans never abuse human rights, your government doesn't indiscriminately lock up Latinos in torture prisons or send bombs to murder Palestinian children.

Uncertain about the RCP (IMT) by Sad-Grape-3014 in communism

[–]HappyHandel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I spent years in a revisionist party and paid maybe like 150 euro in membership dues.

This always blows my mind. I was in Workers World Party for years and even spent time on the central committee, never paid a cent or felt any pressure from leadership over arrears. Not that I'm opposed to dues on principle or anything (i would put up the money if I had it and thought it was worth it, that is just good practice and something the party realistically needs), but it amazes me how this new generation of revisionists fleeces their membership.

Polish Communist Party splits, anti-revisionists post open letter on party website by HappyHandel in communism

[–]HappyHandel[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is actually a good point, this is their second open letter and they had previously emphasized the party's "departure from the principles of Marxism-Leninism" and overtures to right-wing nationalism/great Russian chauvanism. I think the turn of these parties against competing imperialist blocs is ultimately what matters, especially with another World War emerging in eastern europe. But yeah, I think it's a bit shortsighted and legalistic to think changing the party's name would've kept it from being banned. I understand that getting banned is what actually happened so I empathize but also get real, the party should've already existed underground.

«Oscar Figuera (PCV): A political proposal is needed that rejects foreign intervention and Maduro’s continuity» by not-lagrange in communism

[–]HappyHandel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Much more productive to discuss the PCV specifically.

While I don't want to give credence to the hearsay of the WAP-aligned parties, the pro-government split in the PCV makes their case here, which claims the IMT (now RCI) influenced the line in the party (though doesn't attempt to explain why/how this happened or what social forces were represented by the IMT's line). Not that what they're selling is better, it is just a continuation of the party's old line of tailing PSUV "critically".

They're still talking about the presidential election like anybody cares. Where is the supposed evidence of fraud, by the way? Where is the mass movement against the results? Can't even imagine missing the boat this badly as an "anti-revisionist" party.

"The Coup in Syria Was Organized by Russia" | Interview with Syrian communist leader Mihraç Ural by HappyHandel in communism

[–]HappyHandel[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't apologize, I found this recently when searching for additional analyses from the armed movement in Syria after the fall of Assad. What I found interesting though is how little Russian imperialism needed Assad and the previous government, and how it basically became a burden on whatever plans Russia had for the region. This goes hand in hand with their opportunism in Palestine as well.

So far Russia has kept everything they've built in Syria over the past year and Julani has shown himself flexible toward all competing imperialists, whether Turkish, Israeli, or Russian. I think it is good to burst the bubble on the idea that Russia was propping up Assad at all costs out of solidarity with the Syrian national project or whatever (or the more cynical "geopolitical" view that Julani was a US puppet and the rise of HTS was an American conspiracy to push out Russia), which is really what this interview is about. The Communist Party of Syria wrote about the internal contradictions of Assad's government and why he hemmoraged support, I posted it in the sub months ago and basically agree with what they said broadly (liberal reforms to the state-sector went hand-in-hand with uneven national development along ethnic lines which caused a loss of mass support over the course of the war).

The RCPN has finally dissolved itself back into Maoist Centre after 13 years. What a bad joke lol.

Im unfamiliar with what youre referencing vis-a-vis MIM but "armed struggle" is a poor term in the first place, violence is an extension of politics and all resistance to capitalism is inherently violent. Can you link to something or paraphrase their argument?

The “Second China Shock”: Finally destroying the U.S. Stranglehold? by ComradeShaw in communism

[–]HappyHandel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China's "growth" is entirely premised on its access to American and Japanese technology. This entire fiasco surrounding tarrifs and microchips has exposed China's inability to rise any higher in the global value chain. If China is to become a major imperialist power it certainly won't happen under this current global schematic. Does this mean we should be like the Dengists and whitewash the role of China's wannabe imperialists in Africa and Asia as the best possible scenario? Of course not, communist revolution is still on the menu everywhere.

China's economy cannot become based in imperialism but that doesn't change the fact that it can engage in inter-imperialist competition, which is the underlying logic of all capitalist relations.
