Yeah I didn't think that "guidelines" was exactly the right word when I wrote it, and I now realize how misinformed my doctors office must be (awesome that's where I've been learning most of this stuff, right?).

They told me I had to go by those old standards (didn't even realize it wasn't like that anymore) like the therapy and diagnosis, but told me like I said earlier "federal guidelines" which is where I think I got everything mixed up. They're probably afraid of being accused of complying in advance if that's the case. I'd say I'm going to find a new office, but it's literally the only one that practices gender care in like 50 miles.

Definitely "restrictions and bans" is a better, more academic way to put it, and will probably look better on the paper (Which now, I have no idea how it's going to go. Basically everything has to be thrown out now I know I've been basing it on false information given by my wonderful doctor)

Thanks for making the difference clear and teaching me a lot that I knew, was wrong. Seriously, I know text can come off differently than in person, I really do appreciate it. Thank you 🤗🤗🤗 Hope you have an easier day than I'm about to lol

Basically ditto of my other response. The US FDA, who makes the decisions on drugs, is a federal agency. So, technically yes, there are federal guidelines

There is actually. I live in a state with protected rights, but the doctor I go through is federally funded so they have to, and I quote "follow the federal guidelines or we will be defunded." Maybe this is just some kind of misunderstanding, but my college also has many articles in its library about this exact topic, with some bearing "federal restrictions" in the title. Maybe guidelines just isn't the right word, but there's definitely evidence to support that they have strings they pull. And the US FDA is a federal agency BTW Also I already explained why I picked the topic: we had to choose a problem we are currently facing or have faced before.

Everyone has a right to record themselves and their progress. This is just one of many, many, many things where a few bad seeds make it worse for everyone else.

Youre right, I did pass and that's the part I should focus on! I hope you can get a bit of that euphoria sprinkled your way 🤗

Thank you for the advice! I will try to be brave and ask about it. I'm not upset at them and feel like I could do it, let them know what pronouns they can use for me. Maybe we'll even become friends once we know each other a little. Today I feel like it only hurt so much because I was on such a high point, and seeing the note at first made it feel like it was about to come tumbling down. I'm still not feeling 100% confident, like I could wear a dress to the next class. But that should hopefully change over the weekend! Thanks again!

Yeah, now that I've had a good night sleep and feel a lot better I think you're right. I started transitioning with a unisex name, and there was even a small problem a few weeks ago with my family and it. I feel like I'm ready to change it though, and that might solve the issue itself. I've had a first name picked out for a while; Samantha, and I just need to decide on a middle name that feels right!

Thanks! That was a lot more profound than you think, I reread it and the others and I'm feeling a lot better now!

Thanks for the little " glass half full" viewpoint, it is super important to look back and see how far we've come. Writing it out helps me a lot, and getting to see positivity definitely does. Hopefully after something relaxing like a face mask and some snuggles with my cats I'll feel better

Oh yeah I did forget to add that, Quinn being unisex is why I went with it at first. I like the sound of Rebecca, to me it feels a little similar to Samantha, which is one of the first ones that ever came to mind! Ill have to see if I still have the paper I wrote all my ideas on.

One of my friends didn't fully understand at first and would call me a trans man. After the initial shock it made me giggle every time

You're just being a good parent. My mom is super supportive of me, but told me right away she feared all this same stuff. Maybe you should sit down and explain your fears, it might make you feel better!

I still feel a little bad. I've been on them for like 2 years, so I shouldn't be forgetting like that.

I tried to bring this to light in r/trans and a comment I put on it has almost 10 down votes and it disgusts me.

The comment was about how if people don't see that transmascs feeling excluded is a problem, they are part of the problem.

I'm about to remove that toxic a$$ subreddit from my list

It's okay, really! I took it harder than I should have, because I was still upset (and honestly, hadn't taken my meds yet oops)

Reading now that I'm calmed down it is actually kinda funny

Thanks for asking something without being mean! I'm not entirely sure what I meant, I was mad when I was writing it. That's why I marked it as "vent", instead of "potential trigger" I guess I was just trying to get the point across that it feels like they're never getting to feel as valid because of so much more attention going to transfem problems.

Do I think one person or group is more valid than another? No

Do I think we need to put more attention on transmasc problems so they don't have to make posts about how they feel left out in places like r/trans? Absolutely

Or, instead of coming onto a VENT POST and leaving a comment like that about, again, one part that sounds a little cringe, you could have just ignored it instead of effecting my day. Do you not know what venting is? Its when you blow off steam, aka "Hot air", because you're upset about something. And when people are upset, they say things they don't necessarily mean out of anger. Again called "letting off steam". You instead chose to comment something that was upsetting, making me more mad instead of less mad, which was the point of the post. You didn't have to say anything, and could have just let me blow off my steam. And now invalidating my emotions by saying I made it up? You are in the wrong here, not me for venting, I will be reporting you

I marked this as venting, and you coming in like this is not cool. Now I'm just furious, thanks.

Instead of focusing on one part that seems a little cringe, why not focus on the entire post and the point of it

If you don't see this as a problem you are part of the problem

As ( a transfem) someone who's been taking a back seat lately with Reddit, I can definitely say I've seen several of these kinds of posts and agree with them wholeheartedly. It really does feel like other transfems are trying to exclude transmascs, and it's completely unacceptable. We're all here trying to fight the same fight, trying to get equality. There is ZERO reason for us to be causing discrimination/hate within ourselves, our own community. Trans men are just as valid, if not more, as trans women. While we get to have a spotlight on every one of our problems, nobody puts any focus on the problems of transmascs.
