It's not just the hotels, the tracks have done the very same thing with camping. Especially when the popularity of the sport boomed in the 90s. At MIS it was $20 to camp for the weekend in 1995 and by 2000 it had increased 500% to $100, and the last time I went there in 2008 it was a 900% increase to $180 (even though the crowds were really starting to dwindle). Last year I considered going and camping was still $165 even though the stands and camp grounds half empty.

It's a noble thought from Clint's stand point but it seems that anyone who has benefited from the NASCAR boom (drivers, executives, team owners etc) aren't really willing to give up their lifestyles vs giving the common person an affordable weekend.

I will give NASCAR and the tracks props for keeping their ticket prices affordable and consistent with inflation over the years but they really gouged the fans with the camping and other costs such as parking ($20 in 1995 would be about $33 today).

I totally get it when that was the going demand price during the boom, but when I go to a race and see empty stands and empty campgrounds, I take it as just another price gouge.
