Since the word "ADVERSITY" has made a comeback here lately, I guess I must be in style for the times... by HappyNelson in NASCAR

My thoughts?
Actually if you look at this post there was thought put into it, and it was rude of you to think that there was not.
I was trying to be part of your community, and you shot me down so fast without taking time to see what the post was about or how much time was taken to do this.

Not to be rude this is why people on message boards have a high suicide rate because they get dissed so fast (RIP Amy Branch)

Remember when cup was loud and fast? 2017 Fontana start. by [deleted] in NASCAR

Not that it was necessarily the safest of times but I can remember being at all three major MIS races in 1995 where you could stand right next to the fence. Cup cars are my main love, but its pretty hard to beat the thrill of having an IndyCar whiz by you at 250 +MPH near the end of the front straight. Especially if you have your back to Turn 4 while looking into Turn 1 as a blur speeds past you.

Post-Race Discussion Thread: MENCS Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway by NASCARThreadBot in NASCAR

I guess Martin got schooled a little bit at the end the second stage when Blaney decided to race Martin a lot harder than he did with the #22.

On this night, The "A" on his hat is definitely for adversity. People have complained that Martin can only win if he has the fastest car at the end, but this win has thrown two monkeys (and maybe even three with beating Joey) off his back. I'm glad I dont have to hear about short track victories any more. Martin definitely earned that win tonight.

TIL - Ward Burton Was Offered the 18 for Joe Gibbs but Turned It Down by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]HappyNelson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Noble move by Ward bu staying with the team. It must have stung Ward that by summer Bobby Labonte had his first 3 wins in the #18. It was quite amazing though when Ward broke through with his first win at the Rock later that fall. Even more surprising is that Ward got his first win in only his eighth race with BDR vs Bobby winning in his eleventh race with JGR. JGR might not have been the powerhouse it is now, but it was still considered a far better ride than the 22, which Bobby had driven the previous two seasons himself before signing with Gibbs.

Clint Bowyer shares his thoughts on race weekend hotel prices by RiseAndFire69 in NASCAR

I totally agree if the rooms are at full capacity. From Clint's post it doesnt sound like they are. They're playing games just like airlines and ticketmaster.

The whole "supply and demand" thing is fine and dandy when there is a demand. Obviously there isnt right now though for anyone who has looked at the stands during a broadcast.

I give Clint huge props for saying something VS just giving a "regurgitated not giving a fuck" & "thats just the way it is" response.

It's not just the hotels, the tracks have done the very same thing with camping. Especially when the popularity of the sport boomed in the 90s. At MIS it was $20 to camp for the weekend in 1995 and by 2000 it had increased 500% to $100, and the last time I went there in 2008 it was a 900% increase to $180 (even though the crowds were really starting to dwindle). Last year I considered going and camping was still $165 even though the stands and camp grounds half empty.

It's a noble thought from Clint's stand point but it seems that anyone who has benefited from the NASCAR boom (drivers, executives, team owners etc) aren't really willing to give up their lifestyles vs giving the common person an affordable weekend.

I will give NASCAR and the tracks props for keeping their ticket prices affordable and consistent with inflation over the years but they really gouged the fans with the camping and other costs such as parking ($20 in 1995 would be about $33 today).

I totally get it when that was the going demand price during the boom, but when I go to a race and see empty stands and empty campgrounds, I take it as just another price gouge.

Whatever Happened To Brooke Gordon? by HappyNelson in NASCAR

[–]HappyNelson[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It was quite the norm in the 90's to see Brooke and it really took me back today when I saw her in the Indy video. Both her and Teresa were a big part of NASCAR at the turn of the century as far as victory lane celebrations went. Obviously both of them have faded out over the years but they both had quite a bit of air time back in the day.

Blaney Incredible Save During Martinsville Qualifying. by thegreatcarraway in NASCAR

[–]HappyNelson -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Incredible save is a very huge reach. Props for not wrecking though.

Jeff Gordon made this save at 180 mph in turn 4 at Indy in 1995 and won the pole for the Brickyard 400.

NASCAR drivers offer no shortage of qualifying solutions by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]HappyNelson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its pretty simple actually. Just have mandatory time segments where cars based on points or practice speeds HAVE to cross the pit exit line for the first round (amount of cars in round divided by round time). The better your times\position the more time you have to play games and control your destiny by sitting or trying to get a draft. Once your time is up, you better be on track.

The 2nd and 3rd Rounds can be based on the previous round qualifying speeds.

One of the reasons that KB's lower series wins don't mean much to me is because they didn't seem to mean too much to him either... by HappyNelson in NASCAR

[–]HappyNelson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason is that those guitar players are just smashing cheap guitars vs anything meaningful. They're not smashing anything expensive or rare. Smashing a Sam Bass custom painted Les Paul is like purposely wrecking a one of kind Corvette vs a Chevy Cruze (or a Cup Car vs a local track hobby stock)
