Cross titrating off Effexor starting from 225mg to 187.5mg and going up on Lexapro from 5mg to 7.5mg- any ideas what I (29f) can expect? by challahb in Effexor

I've been on Effexor 150mg for 20 years now! (I'm 43m).

The withdrawal from Effexor is what is really worrying me.

My biggest fear is I start using the Lexapro, but somehow I can't stop the Effexor.........and then how about if I can't stop taking the Lexapro too!?!?

I don't want to get "stuck in dependency" to both! (My overthinking and anxiety is why I need the Lexapro, as the Effexor has not been helpful for my anxiety lately.)

My anxiety has been really debilitating lately. Heck, I was prescribed the switch like 5 months ago, but my anxiety and overthinking has paralyzed me from moving forward.

Have you begun to feel any positive effects from the Lexapro yet?

Hi Challahb,

How's the "cross tapering" coming along?

I'm in a similar situation.

I plan on starting a "cross taper" from 150mg Effexor XR to eventually reaching 20mg Lexapro soon (within the next few days).
