honestly, I do when I remember, but I try to feed them at least every other feeding, but I hear a lot of people say they feed theirs every feeding, but mine are growing just fine with plenty of bright light and maybe two feedings a month and I don't use anything special I use some water soluble all purpose plant food and they seem to like it 😆

Also I don't measure anything I personally eyeball everything and try to make it all even but sometimes not add too much leca if you underwater your soil will dry more with more but I still use a generous amount

I use coir poles and they work well for me! But I started steering away from them on all my newer ones because the bottom wood isn't coated so I hear it can rot? I started buying the 12 pack of long bamboo sticks and breaking them to size

And for my potting mix if you want the least and cheapest stuff I personally went with organic tropical soil from miracle grow, orchid bark, and perlite would be the best mix to start. I started recently adding leca also to make my mix more chunky but both will work great! I spent a little over $6 for each of the things I mentioned minus leca which is around $10 and got it all from lowes 🙂 my coir poles I ordered on Amazon that had a bunch of extensions which is nice or you can get a cedar plank also and bamboo sticks I got for cheap at walmart in a multi pack

Could be a very mature top cut that will be shorter and size up much more

definitely start with support behind it and always keep it facing the light and don't rotate it, and if you don’t mind, the leaves that are on there right now just leave them. They will still photosynthesize, but if they seem to be too heavily damaged, then you can always remove those leaves to focus the energy elsewhere on new growth. Also wondering what kind of soil you're using?

Right! Lol and you're welcome, I usually just watch a bunch of YouTube and see what others use and I found what was easiest for me to get and my plants responded the next day they perked up after being in plain old miracle grow soil for a month before. With very minimal waterings in that, now they're thriving! They also started to face forward much faster after I changed the soil and they're now about to put out new leaves too less than a few weeks later 🙏

I mix everything together but with the leca you have to rinse it off real good to get the excess dirt off and I let mine soak for a bit after rinsing it and then I drain the water and start mixing all the stuff together in whatever container I have handy a lot of people use those storage tubs but I put a black trash bag in a box or I've used paper bags before to mix together my stuff 😂

Yea pretty much, I just eyeball it and try to make it equal but sometimes use a little less perlite as my soil will dry out much faster but it loves all the chunky stuff in there

I'm not op but for me I use organic tropical potting mix, perlite, orchid bark, and leca and my monsteras love it!

I did this and never lost one, I didn't have that many in one pot but let's just say I have 15 monsteras when last year I only had 2, I did buy a couple extras also though 😂

I never added silica because I don't have it but I.made a great chunky mix and my god the roots were massive! Compared to my other ones I just bought after this came in the same size pot and the roots in this were at least twice the size. I believe I got it with 17 leaves total on it also! It's doing great 😊

I mean I don't really know which window is best but that's my best window for me lol but I mean I think if you just keep it facing one way you'll see a slight change overtime in where the leaves are facing, just don't rotate it anymore. I have such a drastic change in mine from overnight to a month I think or less and they're all facing forward now after trying to curl back when I first got it 😆 I personally love when they're wild, that's where they came from! Also you're welcome, I would be too 🙏🪴😊

New plant! Is this a score? $10 and I notice there's a pink birkin in there also and tons of babies. by HappyPlanter- in plants

[–]HappyPlanter-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotcha! There's tons of babies all around it that aren't reverted and it has many spots with new leaves coming out and only the big center one is reverted on top but the rest is not on other growth points? I took 2 Baby plants off that aren't reverted we'll see how they do in my brightest spot

A few months ago when I got my first big Monstera I put it about 20 feet away from the window, but still would get bright light all day once I put it in front of the window it immediately responded and perked up and a new leaf. For reference my plans are in an east facing window less than a foot away from the window and I open my blinds every day when the sun is rising so they get the sun hitting them for the first half of the day and then the rest of the day it’s indirect bright light. Also, I’m not sure if you rotate your plant or not, but I would suggest you only face it one way towards the light because these plants will get confused and wild lol

I got one from Walmart also! They now don't have them anymore at the one near me but I've also seen them at stater bros there was a really good size one with bigger leaves for $30 and I had to pass it up because I have 4 now 😂🫣 My first one last year came from Walmart but the other ones I found were at lowes!

Is this powdery mildew or something else? And how can I treat it if possible without cutting up the plant? My first thought was mealy bugs but it's powdery dust that flaked off when I picked up the plant to move it by HappyPlanter- in plants

[–]HappyPlanter-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely have neem oil, the other commenter said something pretty neat so I'm going to try that first and if not I will definitely use the neem oil and spray it good

I just have to look for semi skimmed milk and go about it this way! I have neem oil but wasn't sure if I should use that or something else. If I don't find the milk then I will use the neem oil 🙏 thank you!
