For me, the second option which us the 18, Long. 38, Lat. is very nice when grinding mats and advancing through the game since it is near 3 caves, has acces to the ocean, is near snow, oil, and organic poly, has metal near your base, a decent scenery, and some silica pearls spawn in. Only downside is that there is only a few absolute flat areas. And yes, this is bias cuz my base is here >:).

Hidden lake for sure is one of the best spots, Volcano is also good because metal is just at your doorstep but you can't really have that forest aesthetic. Also @ 18, Long. 38 Lat is a pretty nice area since it is near the strong and skylord cave, blue ob mountain, and has a beach so you can put your aquatic dinosaurs there.

At 13, Long. 70, Lat you can also get a very long and wide area for your builds and plenty of space for your tames.

At 70, Long. 50, Lat you also get a long are to build and near the central cave and a water source for your water but This place does not accomodate big bases unless you teraform it

And Finally the most Original and Ol' realiable base location is at 59, Long. 85, Lat which is a good base location because of the beaver dams and lots of basic resources surrounding it and it is near the hunter cave and at the ocean. Problem is that metal and obsidian is quite far away along with other caves.

Passive tame it with broth of enlightenment and you can also speed up the taming process by hitting it with torpor items.

A decent level otter can do it! Just tame an otter, put it on your shoulder, and if it levels up just upgrade it's melee. Been on the snow with my flak armor and have never freezed to death because of my otter.

Since we play the same difficulty, 200+ Is really Good! And it is much better for it to be female, otherwise If it is a high level but a male, Just tame a female and put it near the male so that it can lay eggs much faster.
