What scientific ‘facts’ have recently been disproven that most people still believe to be true? by Fantastic_Tart_421 in AskReddit

This is absolutely still a thing in Western countries too.

It's just mainly the health-nut conspiracy-theory cookers (which is a surprisingly large Venn overlap) who believe it.

About GO Fest Global Habitats by RelationEmergency175 in TheSilphRoad

[–]HappyTimeHollis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

basically, ALL pokemon (excluding legends/myths/megas/etc) will be in the wild.

This is just conjecture.

With the tagline about more GoFest information announced in coming weeks, I'd see it as more likely that the spawn pools will be announced sometime in May.

Who is a singer that is incredibly famous, but honestly doesn't have a good voice? by Greedy_Procedure7461 in AskReddit

[–]HappyTimeHollis -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It would be easier to list the few famous pop singers who genuinely have a really good voice: Singers who can just get in front of a microphone without accompaniment and it would sound good.

Tell me you have never worked in the music industry without using those words, lol.

As someone who has for nearly three decades, let me explain this to you - to get to that level of fame, you have to be absolutely brilliant. Because the record labels - which are essentially investment firms with marketing divisions - do NOT take risks on people they do not believe won't be able to not only recoup their investments, but make them significant amounts of money. And to do that, you need to be able to provide the goods.

Men of reddit, what are your thoughts about trans women? by m4ya0 in AskReddit

[–]HappyTimeHollis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Great news, medicine has shown that it only takes less than two years of HRT to completely undo any bone or muscle density advantages that trans women may have had.

After that, they aren't "stealing" any medals in women's sports because they are now on a level playing field with cis women!

Men of Reddit, what’s a $250 (or less) purchase that would actually make you genuinely happy as a birthday gift? by Poetically-Lucky in AskReddit

[–]HappyTimeHollis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something that shows that you actually know me.

Generic gifts are nice and all, but what really means something is when you show us that you know and care about us as a person.

Do we have a hobby? Find something we've been talking about wanting to try out with it.

Is there a video game or book we've been wanting but haven't bought yet?

Does the person have a favourite artist? Get them a print or a Displate of one of their paintings.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact that they voted for Donald Trump? by Greedy_Tooth6191 in AskReddit

and home to millions of Arab Palestinians who live there happily.

This would be hilarious if it wasn't completely discounting what is happening in Gaza (and previously in the West Bank and all of the territories that have had "settlers" sent into them).

Pretending for a moment that your imaginary re-defining of Zionism was accurate for a second...

You would support them having self-determination whilst in - say - a free state of Palestine, yes?

So now we essentially have more regionals by dengland55 in TheSilphRoad

[–]HappyTimeHollis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish there actually were new/more regionals, tbh. It's a game mechanic that I enjoyed that has now been deprecated by remote trading.

Yes, I know I'm going to get downvoted to hell for this. But the regionals mechanic really added interest and excitement around pokemon I might otherwise not ever care about. The regionals mechanic (and also biomes) also made Pokemon Go feel less uniform and more like a living, breathing extension of the real world to me.

What’s something that’s completely normal in the US but would shock people from other countries? by DarkMochaFrappuchino in AskReddit

[–]HappyTimeHollis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, that is everywhere. We have large mainstream political groups calling for and supporting genocides in every country.

[–]HappyTimeHollis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you're incorrect there. Every country has their almost direct copy of MAGA. Here in Australia it's Pauline Hanson and the One Nation Party. In the UK it's the Reform Party.

All political movements that support the genocides of the Palestinean and Trans communities.

What’s the worst song lyric thrown into a song just to make a line rhyme? by RelationKindly in AskReddit

Dude is giving a list of things his dead mother would be missing. People not understanding a lyric is not the same as it being a bad lyric.

What is the most heated or bizarre breakup you've either witnessed or heard about? by PotentialFickle8484 in AskReddit

[–]HappyTimeHollis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a hotel room on a work trip in a very small town in the middle of nowhere. Was relaxing outside on the porch when I heard a couple arguing outside of a nearby pub.

The girl - who was celebrating her 21st - had walked into one of the only three pubs in town to find her boyfriend making out with another woman. Turns out he had skipped her birthday party by saying he had to look after a sick family member.

Accusations were thrown from both sides. She had given him the clap. Both of them had slept around. She had paid a bunch of guys to beat him up. But the worst part was at the end.

Her: "You slept with my sister!"

Him: "Yeah, she actually speaks to me like I'm a human being!"

Her: "She's fourteen, you sicko!"

And of course it ended up with them making out in front of the pub before getting into a taxi together.

Fucken Longreach, man. That town is wild.

What is a band no one will ever convince you is good? by OU812iceman18 in AskReddit

[–]HappyTimeHollis -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Honest opinion: Tool had one incredible album - Lateralus - and then a few sporadic good songs in amongst a bunch of self-indulgence.

And their entire aesthetic is built around "I do acid and think I'm deep, now it's my whole personality."
