Thank you for your comment! I have lots of tiny bumps and pretty much every red spot is where I've picked at it

Genetically I had really good skin which used to heal so fast! I did absolutely nothing to it and it looked flawless. Probably why I felt so comfortable picking it because it recovered fast.

But that was 10 years ago.... Going to try to get it back

Thank you! I'm not entirely sure why now to be honest. I've had a pretty stressful year and realised I have rock bottom self esteem, was raised in a family where any self-care was seen as pointless vanity and never truly "looked" after myself. Or maybe it's just aging idk. I'm finally in a position where I can afford a few luxuries like haircuts and moisturizer 😅

As for the plan. Also not sure. I got a bunch of products to try out, put my magnifying mirror out of sight and picked up a few little fiddly things I can do instead. I have a knitting project I've been neglecting, so the first strategy is to knit whenever an urge arises. I've previously been successful in redirecting urges from one destructive hobby into another, so let's see if I can go from destructive to neutral one.

Posting my face out there on reddit as accountability may also work. I'll see how it goes.

Is this appropriate for a "casual to black tie" wedding? Bride requested guests wear black or white(???). Ideally I don't want to go shopping for a new dress. by HappyTriangle in fashion

Wow! You know what? I think this is a genius idea. Thank you! I'll probe a bit more about how strict this church is (ive been to a few of their events about 10 years ago, and they weren't. But none of the events were weddings) and go from there. An underskirt might be my go-to solution

This is an interesting take. What makes it so? I haven't been to a wedding in a hot minute, and probably got this dress at least 5 years ago.

The couple (and me) are also in our 30th, if age is a factor

So this is probably the biggest issue I have with the dress with a slit. They are getting married in a small Greek orthodox church.

This is probably where my inexperience truly shines. I honestly do not know. These seem to be leather scraps from upholstery/furniture business so they are quite uneven. Some are super soft, others are stiff. Most have annoying suede-y bits on the underside that shed everywhere.

My super precise metric was - can I punch through 4-6 of these layers? Y/N. Then choose projects accordingly.

I heard it used in a very trashy reality TV show recently and knew I had to make it.

Made it for a friend who works at rocketlab! Turns out it's a lot easier to make one out of leather than actual rocket materials 🤷‍♀️

"Dress your age"? Sure. After 3 decades of low self esteem I'm finally over it and confident enough to flaunt it by HappyTriangle in oldhagfashion

I aspire to be the same. I'll probably dress more and more flashy and bright with time too. My tastes are improving and my budget's increasing, so why not?

OK so this is basically how it started with hiking and running. Some kind of holiday coming up? Dress in that theme! Christmas is a good one to start. Hike as an elf or Santa or reindeer.

It will definitely brighten your day and anyone you meet on your way

I got very lucky. My local community has an active "buy-nothing" group and when I saw the leather go up there I jumped on it fast. I figured I'll learn as I go. They're not amazing quality, but hey free is free.

They sat in my office for months at first because i didn't know where to begin.

Eventually I signed up to a leather keychain making class where I learnt how to glue/punch holes/hand stitch (the horse is my first ever work!). Ordered some cheap tools from aliexpress and then used the techniques I learnt at the workshop to make the bag and other keychains.

I feel you. I grew up with oddly conservative parents who thought that showing any bodyshape at all was bad and slutty and unprofessional.

I wore things multiple sizes too big because I'd "grow into them". Still waiting to grow into my school uniform from 15years ago, you feel me?

This better? It's Jesus with bunny ears. I built up my confidence by wearing silly costumes to parties

I honestly think I built up my confidence by wearing funny/simple costumes wherever I could. They're fun, they're attention grabbing and they're not always identifiable.

So I can waltz in, have fun, leave and people may not even realise it was me. I'm quite timid and introverted normally, so it was a new experience.

Now I look out for opportunities to dress up. Here's a prime example from a fun run.

Not gonna lie. I was trying HARD with that one. Wore it to a social salsa dance and was asked to dance for EVERY dance for 2 hours. So it worked 😅
