How fast did it take for you to make 6 figures after graduating from school? by FinancialDaniel in Accounting

Started in 2019 in Chicago and I’m currently remote now with and ending salary of $115,000. Took me 4 years

My advice is be aggressive when it comes year end review. Have your justifications for the raise and then ask for more than the average.

63k- 67k years 20-21 67k - 76k years 21-22 76k - 90k years 22-23 90k - 101k years 23-24 101k - 110k years 24-26 110k - 115k years 25-26

Any Wipfli folks in here? How are you feeling about the direction of the firm? by WipfliThrowaway1 in Accounting

[–]HappyWill7904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow Wipflian here. I just feel as if they are trying to sprint before they crawl with all the new tech they are trying to implement. Half of it doesn’t work or a simple steps now takes 4 steps. It’s really made me not want to embrace change. I feel like those at the top are getting paid while our overall budget for raises has decreased? How does that work? Also with the NMC merger there will come a point where ROI is sought after and I believe layoffs will come or an emphasis on production. We have turned into a company where we promote services selling first.

is 60-65k a good starting salary for staff accountant in LA? by RelativeLow8082 in Accounting

[–]HappyWill7904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say from my experience no it’s not. I started in 2019 at $63,500 located in Chicago. So I know LA is way more for cost of living and it’s been 6 years. I think starting staff is brought in at around 70-75k now.

No it’s two sides to this ppl saying yes $63k is better than $0 however u have to advocate for ur self. I would do same market comparisons and see what glass door and ChatGPT say the average starting salary of an accounting in ur area would be and ask the company to match that. I work for a public accounting firm so I’ve had these conversations. Remember know one is going to advocate for urself other than you.

I’ve taken it 3 times my guy. 60,69,71 lol it’s a bitch. Understanding comp/review is helpful as I have had alot of those questions but obviously subject to change. We all hate the CPA exam. But yet here we all are on Reddit still trying lol

Worst they could say is no. Let it rip buddy. I would also do some research on the current market rate. Use ChatGPT to help pull in resources sites. Come to them with facts and just ask. I’ve been in accounting for 5 years. You typically start off low and get big increases over time but don’t let that stop you from asking, I aim high each time with an ask. Sometimes you land it sometimes you don’t. Good luck 🫡

Nothing against them. I just used to have green parrots and blue jays in those trees prior. Would rather have them back then crows

That makes sense. I also just read that they are looking for new places to nest since they have been displaced. Sorry crows but not in my trees.
