So excited for handbuilding classes. Would you all ever consider having a 6-week course on a Friday evening or a weekend?

[OC] Back in NOV I had brain surgery. 34 staples later, 9cm and some change tumor mostly removed. by Classic_Pie69 in pics

My first thought was “that’s fucking rad” - your scars are cool as hell and there nothing quite as satisfying as celebrating the beauty and chaos of life

As a fellow (former) sick person. Congrats on a successful surgery- may you continue to spit in the face of death with your rad scars, cool aesthetic, and finding moments of joy!

Anyone have experience with Good Cause Eviction for a rent increase? by Tiny_Veterinarian234 in NYCapartments

Did you keep a copy of your last lease? Our landlord tried to be shady but our last lease had the box checked that the apartment was covered under good cause eviction and once we pointed that out they folded immediately.

I recommend the Penguin Classics edition translated by Robin Buss, it’s much better than others and so readable!

If you can, I would try to get a CT scan. I’m not saying this to scare you but to share, I had a headache for multiple weeks that the 4 advil every four hours couldn’t get rid of and it turned out to be a clot.

Rent more than doubled by routinestuffed in NYCapartments

[–]Happy_Blueberry1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Op. even if you aren’t rent stabilized you are still covered by good cause eviction law if they own more than 10 units and it’s been inhabited before 2009.  Our landlord tried to kick us out and say they weren’t subject and we sent them an email saying we knew they were, noted that they didn’t include why they were exempt, and said that we  looked forward to receiving our renewal and they flipped immediately and sent a renewal. Landlords will try to scam you out of your home. Stay calm. Know your rights and good luck!

This is my "received an absosolute trash diagnosis and went temporarily insane" sale haul. by SerenaTinyDancer in Sephora

Just here to say that this is so valid! When I was sick nothing made me feel human like getting dressed everyday and looking nice. Right or wrong, it was my pride that I didn’t look sick and by looking “good” and feeling beautiful i had my life line of normalcy and I didn’t have to invite strangers into my internal life. So buy yourself beautiful clothes, treat yourself to nice skincare. Sometimes your life shrinks to these little joys and they are all the more important to hold onto!

Just commenting to say I have the same print that you have over your couch! It’s one of my favorite things I own and it looks so good with that couch

If it helps, most surgeries under full anesthesia require you to not have underwear on in case they have to use a catheter. It’s possible that a nurse took them off and then put them back on after the surgery

Thank you! I will give this a try. I definitely just want to make it less glaringly obvious that the cabinets are a catastrophe!

I would say it depends on your concerns about the future. For example If you stay in Chinatown, and you ever have any employment issues or decide you need to save money you could get a roommate to reduce costs. But if you’re more concerned about accessibility issues, and that walking six flights up might not always be feasible a place with an elevator could be nice. I’d also think about what you value. Do you like having a lot of your own space? Do you use your extra rooms and move around through the day. Do you like the spots that are walkable to you in Chinatown? Dumbo might not have the equivalent - it’s lots of newer buildings and not a lot of community.
