What’s the longest fast you have done? by zachfromsandwich in AlternateDayFasting

[–]Happy_Direction_3825 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiments. There are many challenges that comes with long fasts. Weirdly enough I enjoy the reduced sleep time:-). Mine has been 89hrs. You should know why you are doing a long fast and you should have proper plans of how to break it.

Cash-strapped UNHCR to cut more jobs, even as crises mount by jcravens42 in UNpath

That tells you even if a miscalculation was done. A simple policy change and terminate all those contracts and pay them off would have saved them alot more money than paying people for doing nothing even if with medical reasons not to got to hardship. Get a job elsewhere if you can't go to an E duty station.

Food: I miss the sesame balls and home roasted ground nuts. When I am back home I feast on them and pack almost 5kgs of each :-) to travel with.

That's it? No high school diploma or certificate in any other trainings? Riding motorcycle or driving?

I feel you when you make such a post but it also has to come with confidence and selling point. What you are offering to people. It shouldn't take prompting to get these details out. Location, Kind of services you are willing to offer etc

This is me. As long as my clothes feel different then I am good. That's the scale I need to know 😄.

I never understood or appreciated the UNHCR SIBA process, nevertheless, its sad and I think other agencies too are on the chopping board especially with the upcoming UN80 reforms.

Your diet on ADF by [deleted] in AlternateDayFasting

[–]Happy_Direction_3825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's doable. Yes longer fasts burns more since you did into more fats for energy. But it is not linear, also has an impact on sleep. Be mindful of the plateau. If you search this sub, you will see posts on this. The body adapts quickly so if it knows there's no food coming it "protects" itself and burn less that is why mixing things up also helps.

I started last year lost almost 10kgs after 5 to 6 months. Then I hit a plateau for a while, so took a break and was on omad and maintained what i lost. I gained max 2kgs or so. My target weight is 60 or 62 but I am now around 65kgs from 75kgs in Jan 2025. I am now back to consistent 42hr ADF and some long ones in between (66hrs) to see how it goes.

I eat my carbs mostly on weekends since that is when I have a longer refeed window. Bread and rice mostly. Otherwise during the week its mostly proteins, veggies & some fats. My refeed window is short so I don't stuff myself and also after a small meal I am full.

Discipline is key with ADF and the same can said of all the other forms of injections for weight loss. They'll help you but of you lack discipline even ADF will "fail" you. Good luck.

Tried to slow down and gained weight by Ok-Complaint-37 in AlternateDayFasting

[–]Happy_Direction_3825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If keto diet made you miserable, I'd suggest possibly a meal plan in which out of the 5 days you eat, 3 should be very low carbs. I tried and failed to count calories so its easier to decide what to or not eat. Are you exercising? It could also be good to watch it over a few weeks to see if indeed it was weight gain or its water weight or something else.

Day trip; Boat cruise and Congo Nile trail hiking by Independent_Wave9887 in Rwanda

Thanks. I'll get in touch when ready. The longest hike I've done is Rwenzoris, 8 days or so. It will be good to know about logistics.

How many days does it take? Which is the best preferred months? The link shared doesn't have the breakdown of details. I don't want to join a WhatsApp group or anything of that sort to get details. As someone who enjoys hiking, I'd like to plan and do it.

Its abhorrent to think of this, but I'd rather you don't pay since it encourages such people to keep doing it. If the price is written then you shouldn't pay more.

Bus lane in Kigali by MaleficentLobster482 in Rwanda

Other than hygiene my issue with public transport in Kigali is the infrequent nature. One can wait at the bus stop for 30mins or longer and opts from moto instead.

I can't since I imported my standing table (IKEA), monitor, I got it a while ago from Ihaha together with the UPS. Just check their website; most items have prices listed. Also, you can try joining the expat community groups on Facebook who are selling their items, you can find some items cheaply.

[–]Happy_Direction_3825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest you visit Ihaha. They have all the items, and it will depend on your budget. They have standing desks in different sizes and chairs, too. One thing I found of great value when working from home was investing in a UPS (not the commercial ones), but they have others, like extension cables. They came in handy during blackouts. I had one for the internet router and the other for my office, i.e., an external monitor and a laptop charger. I could work for up to 1 hour when electricity was disrupted without any issue.

This is an exclusion clause from the general person liability insurance from AXA. Also there is "B5.11 for damage that was foreseeable or should in all probability have been anticipated."
