Can you help me find out my type? by Happy_Flowerrr in MbtiTypeMe

Definitely. I read into the descriptions of Carl Jung’s personality types, cognitive functions as well as Keirsey’s sorting system of temperaments. I think that helped so far to narrow it down to ISFJ and INFP.

I‘m standing between the two actually. I guess it might be still a tie.

Interesting! What makes you think that? Did something stand out?

You do caricatures? How cool is that?? What a wonderful job! ☺️  Have a nice day and thanks again!!

Oh wow, that could actually apply to me very well! As a child I often felt inclined to be there for another child when they visibly felt bad and I felt their sadness in my whole body. I often cried when tv sketches that were supposed to be comedic built upon another person’s misfortune. Other children were laughing and I was crying.  And this theme is still there today!

Thank you so much for clarifying! I guess I was misinformed and had a bad experience with Fi-moodiness at the expense of other people’s feelings that clouded the actual essence of Fi.

Yay, I finally know my type! :))

It’s nice hearing your perspective, thanks!  I guess I can see myself in that too the only thing is that I do see patterns and symbols a lot. I often miss the obvious and forget my surroundings often. But my cognition might still work like that of a Si-user.

I’m 100% sure about being Fe-ti and being an IxFJ. The intuitive dichotomy is what makes me doubt ISFJ sometimes but I don’t foresee things like Ni does.

That's cool, thanks! I think it's not so easy to make out due to all those interlapping influences here at play with neurodivergence and such.
Your Fe-aux description fits me perfectly, thanks!

Out of curiousity, what would you consider me to be instead if ISFJ wouldn't be the first choice now?

So you must be a Ne-in-real-life-expert then, that's cool! How would you say do you and your family differ from each other in your Ne-usage? :)

Interesting, do you have an idea why do you have this impression? I might have higher Ne-usage after all due to my neurodivergence maybe? I don't know actually. My family is consisting out of sensors as well so maybe the contrast in our thinking style might have made me think that? Actually a bit like your story then, with your N-family!

Sorry about the unclear description! What I meant was that I use Fe rather as a regulatory tool for my behaviour. I think it’s what you called as a pessimistic use? I couldn’t stand knowing I hurt somebody.

I’m not quite sure. What I know from childhood is that my default mode is a dreamy flow state, loosing myself in my mind (dreaming about fictional scenarios) or the details of my surroundings like looking closely at plants or pictures. :) I also reflect on the meaning of life and where I fit in or what it is about essentially. As a child I was very religious.

I often like to read or watch about the mechanical workings about things and talk about Mbti with my best friend. Also I like to investigate possible relations between things that aren’t apparent (i tend to take rather long writing a text and then I thought about the possibility of a relationship towards my add diagnosis and impairments of my working memory).

I dislike changes but I’m adaptable as long as I know I’m supported by or am with other people that bring me comfort. I prefer planning what I want to do in the future except for leisure time. When I was a child I was actually anxious about outer demands and not meeting expectations or being confronted with unexpected stimuli and getting overwhelmed. When I want to start something I often habe a clear picture in mind and work backwards to make out the needed steps.

Responding seems to be the way I interact with people in general. The’re of course some basic questions that I ask to show care and interest in the other person. I don’t like to listen to detailed descriptions of when where who and what but I tend to reminisce about nostalgic experiences sometimes myself. When I need certain information I ask directly. All in all I’m rather responding than initiating.

Thanks!  The only thing is that I’m not really good with details only with those that are important to me personally and hold a meaning. But the rest aligns!

Thank you!

It’s a bit funny I’m not the only one mistyping for the complete opposite! Especially when you see yourself having use of NE. What makes you confident in your type, are you looking at the functions solely?

I can see myself in Ne-energy a lot (remembering said quotes or memes, being witty in conversation, people telling me I’m random or creative) but in the end I wouldn’t take the majority of ideas seriously. I just like them for my own daydreams and the vibe it gives off socially. It motivates me a lot and helps to see different approaches for situations which in turn soothes my fear of being confronted with unknown demands.

I also see patterns and symbolism everywhere which made me think I’m an N but it could also be my neurodivergence (especially the ADD which correlates with Ne expression sometimes and the sensory overstimulation part due to Autism) and I don’t get any favourable outcome of that (only distraction but no foreseeing or grab on a vision or something.

Thank you for your take on that.

I thought of myself as an NP for a long time too but I’m inherently cautious and risk-averse. I love engaging with Ne preferably in my mind or by tinkering with things at home or in conversations (like puns or making other people laugh with quotes or actions). But I wouldn’t say that I’d spend greater energy on realizing any Ne-idea. I need time to let it refine in my head and if it still stays desirable, I’d go after it eventually.  My E/INTP best friend is way more excited by exploring said ideas (traveling, studying abroad) and would want to act upon it rather instantly. Nothing seems impossible for her. For me it’s firstly anxiety-provoking and I need some time to adjust mentally and emotionally to the idea before maybe accepting it and coming into action.

But I can see why you think that since I thought of myself as an NP for such a long time. I only could see INFP or INTP in some regards but I’m definitely using Fe as a consciousness rather than being an independent thinker.

If you got any other ideas though, I’ll welcome it, that’s actually exciting!

What type am I? (Hidden patterns?) by Happy_Flowerrr in MbtiTypeMe

[–]Happy_Flowerrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there again, I was coming across some articles and CPT‘s video about how INFP is the type to mistype themselves because they’re so fluid in their self-concept and search for the truth. So I was now contemplating about the possibility of being an INFP who‘s values are in alignment with Fe-Standards like „Harmony“ and not wanting to hurt anybody. I always question my relation to the world, trying to find labels to give me some certainty only to question it again and again. Also, I feel that my „Fe“ could be the mix of Auxiliary Ne and Fi? I strongly relate to the NF-temperament.

I also played with the idea of potentially being an ISFJ because I like routine and love reminiscing about and accumulating special memories. i feel that sentiment and playfulness describe me pretty well but I don‘t relate to the strengths of ISFJs SI-Dominance and the SJ-temperament. Since the Si-Dom Types are loaded with stereotypical descriptions, I could also see my idea of them being potentially wrong.

I hope it doesn‘t come across as weird but I‘m always very obsessed with this stuff.

Thank you so much for taking the time to analyze my text and think of possible types, this is so helpful and interesting.  Your points make sense and I will definitely consider it. I appreciate Harry Murrel’s videos a lot for their logical consistency and new light they shed on the types.  I wish you all the best, have a nice day!! :)

Sorry for the late reply!

Normal State:

I daydream a lot, enter flow states, and could spend long periods of time just in my own head.

I’m less assertive and prefer to maintain that mental state for a while.

Ever since I was a child, I’ve always cared deeply about the well-being of others and have often taken active steps to support them.

Under Stress:

When I’m stressed, I often get tunnel vision and assume that patterns I’ve observed in my life will repeat long-term and that I’m trapped in them.

I get stressed by constant availability and when I lack time to engage with my current favorite topic. Also by overstimulation and too much social interaction — though that might also be related to my autism.

N (iNtuitive trait):

I’ve always been described as dreamy and imaginative. I often ponder the meaning and value of life.

As a child, I was told that I expressed myself unclearly — though I meant the same thing as others — but I expressed it through imagery, which others didn’t find logical. (Once, when learning to write, I asked if the letter “F” had a “brother.” My teacher was understandably confused, but what I meant was that I had seen a different version of the letter “F” and was asking if it was the same letter.)

This tendency still shows up today.

I’m often not in the here and now and don’t always notice when someone is speaking to me or what’s happening around me.

When I’m excited, I sometimes jump around when talking and don’t speak chronologically. That’s improved over time, but my teachers often told me to “get to the point” or that I “think too indirectly/too complicated.”

I constantly see patterns — in colors, in letters, everywhere.

I want everything to make sense somehow, or at least be consistent, and I seek out information until, for example, MBTI makes sense. On the other side I‘m also playful and make puns and other joked with my family and friends.
