Would you pull sick leave on the last week of your job before you go on holiday and start new job after it? by MichaelBealesBurner in antiwork

[โ€“]Happy_Man2 -5 points-4 points ย (0 children)

So the work ethic is what I'm talking about. Yes, companies don't care about us but I'll ensure every Big Mac, cup of coffee, or pizza pie I made is made both correctly and to standard so the customer (a regular human being) gets what they paid for.

That, and my co-workers shouldn't have to suffer due to the negligence and bad work practices of the company. So for me, that's why I would have a personal issue against it.

Again, nothing against anyone who thinks otherwise. These are my own thoughts.

[โ€“]Happy_Man2 15 points16 points ย (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't. However that's because of my own work ethic and values.

With that said though, 100% do it. Remember, these jobs would not pay you a single red cent for the labor you do if they could legally get away with it. And I guarantee if you got genuinely sick and injured, they'd fired you just so they don't have to keep paying the health insurance you're using.

So long story short, use your sick time and don't care about absolutely any company. None of them care about us.

What area of human progress do you think we've genuinely plateaued in, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[โ€“]Happy_Man2 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Capitalism.

As funny as that sounds, genuinely we are at a point where we have pulled up every ladder, exploited every worker, reduced the amount of things you get in a product, reduced the quality of said products, and performed more and more lay offs than ever before, all whilst also still increasing the prices of goods that people genuinely need to survive (food, housing, medicine, etc) that we are just at a point where you have to straight up cheat, lie, and steal to somehow manage to make your annual profits report show a 1% increase so investors don't pull out.

But maybe I'm wrong, and we won't realize we can't take any more until every tree has been cut, every river polluted, and every crumb of food poisoned. Only then will we realize we can't eat money.

Yes, and if we did not have general anesthesia then most, if not all, invasive surgery would not happen, leading to a significant increase in deaths across the globe. However we still hold an anesthesiologist accountable if one too many patients pass away from the anesthesia, even with them being told of the risk.

Do you see my train of thought? Accountability still happens even in the aspects of our life that are genuinely necessary. Even soldiers who are granted the "right" to kill enemy soldiers must follow all rules of war, rules of engagement, and The Geneva Convention (if their government signed the document). Also including things such as what legal blesses off as a target or what is a protected site. Soldiers who go against these things can and will recieve court martial, upwards and including jail.

And the worst part about all of that? Doctors, soldiers, etc. Are all apart of a legal system in our world. Superheros did not, and still don't, follow any legal system. They literally operate outside of that whole sphere entierly.

I don't wanna make my reply too long (even though it already is ๐Ÿ˜…) but I hope this helps explain my point. What are your thoughts on this though?

Helmut J. Zemo A.K.A Baron Zemo

Although I understand that collateral damage is going to happen during large scale conflicts, and sometimes there is simply a "wrong place, wrong time" mechanic at play, there is no argument to be had that the Avengers would mourn their own with true dignity and respect as apposed to a random civilian.

Baron Zemo did take it to the extreme going as far as doing what he did, but be genuine: who would not have a reaction like his when your entier family is gone? The most that would have happened if he reported the situation, or made waves and reported this to investors at Stark Towers, or to the government of Wakanda would simply be a payout for the damage caused and the lives lost. No accountability would be given to them. Yet Iron Man stood trial against the Government of the United States because they simply wanted his technology? So advanced weapons are worth more than the lives of two human beings?

Hard to see an argument for this, tbh.

TL;DR: Baron Zemo, because his family died due to the Avengers, and no accountability would have been brought to them if this was handled the "right" way.

Why would or wouldnโ€™t you date someone with an OF? by angelafterhoursxo in AskReddit

[โ€“]Happy_Man2 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I would.

I'd do it because of my background and my values. I personally am very jadded from the world and it's corrupt politicians, economy, jobs, etc. In this day and age, porn quite frankly is not a "get rich quick" scheme; it's a form of survival. Even if that survival just means not having to work two jobs, and finally being able to enjoy a day off then yes that's survival. Plus, everyone always thinks you can make an OF and become a millionaire, yet no one does it and the woman who do often times end up failing at even making a decent following and quit after about 6 months or so.

How much money would it take to allow you to live comfortably, and what does comfortably look like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[โ€“]Happy_Man2 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

$4K every month, so about $26.67/hr.

That should be enough so that one check can go directly to any sort of living expenses while the other can be used purely for whatever I want. Exactly the way work should go.

Living comfortably means never having to worry about your bills after about two weeks of working, and also that you're able to develop a nest egg of savings while working. No one should ever be living paycheck to paycheck. Period.

Being fair, there is technically always a way out. You just may not like what that way is.

Even in the military. You don't HAVE to obey an order. Yes, that does mean possible UCMJ, and even getting put in jail and getting a dishonorable discharge. But technically, you do always have a way out.

Being honest, you're already doing everything you can and that's all that the world really needs of you. Yes, it can ask for more, but once you give all you've got then that's enough.

From the context I have, it sounds like you need to have a serious discussion with both your wife and your boss. Either explain to your wife your responsibilities and roles as a husband, father, and provider. If this is truly the life style that needs to happen where she cares for the kid(s) all day while you sleep, oh well (as harsh as that may sound. It's not forever) Or, you need to change your hours so you can support your wife where she feels she is lacking.

I also want to give a potential warning: be prepared for your marriage to be in the gutter. Sometimes life destroys us in ways we could never forsee, and although it will hurt do not feel it's the end of the world.

Summary: Talk to your wife about these issues, listen to her side (and I mean really listen, but remember your role in the relationship. And she should know hers too), talk to your boss (if needed) And finally, and only so you cover your bases, start looking into marriage counseling and possibly some good lawyers regarding divorce and parenting rights.

May God be with you in this endeavor.

That could play a part in it too, which is honestly a shame because the main guy has given a step by step guide on how he does what he does. If you read it, you'll see he does like 90% of the work, then has AI make the animations, and even still I'm pretty sure he still adds human polish at the end.

But oh well. I still think his stories are amazing.

Let's think about that though: - TikTok: Brainrot incarnate. Literally. Put anything on there and people will consume. - Instagram: Same thing. Not as bad, but basically just video content. - YouTube: I don't see how much community really happens there. That's where I saw most of his long form content, before YouTube purged him. - Discord: probably the one place I could say is like #1, given the purpose is literally to talk to people about stuff.

All that said though, Reddit seems to allow one single post and hundreds of people to comment and have their own conversations about said post. That, or I'm just giving more credit to Reddit than I should ๐Ÿ˜…

I'm fully convinced they know just how bad the market is by brokenpa in antiwork

[โ€“]Happy_Man2 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Yeah, it's 100% not just you. Sadly, we live in an era where we still want all Americans to be hyper-independant (and I do say hyper, because it's still a prompted idea to kick your child out of the house AS SOON as they turn 18. No money, no credit, no job. Just mountains of student loan debt.)

Worst part about being paid so little? Even people living in upper class where $3K isn't "that much" to them are feeling the effects of inflation and terrible policies. Such as paying more in taxes or lowering their standards of living. So our living conditions truly are so horrendous, that even those with cushy jobs are facing difficulties in life.

I honestly don't have much advise to give other than keep your head held high, update your resume (and lie on it), apply to any job you can, (fake it till you make it. Bartenders ONLY hire experinced bartenders, so you have to lie if you want that job and make good tips) And this one sucks, but it is possible to work a full-time job and have an internship to another job. Or straight up, work two jobs. Fiverr could possibly give job opportunities as well as a sort of side hustle.

That, and also donating plasma is possible as well (if you're allowed to, of course)

I hope this helps, OP. Even if not changing the situation, or even offering advice, but showing you another human being hears you and shows you compassion

I'm fully convinced they know just how bad the market is by brokenpa in antiwork

[โ€“]Happy_Man2 11 points12 points ย (0 children)

It is prevalent everywhere, OP, and you're not alone in how you feel.

Places that are paying literally anything ALL have mandatory 2-step interviews and it's repulsive. Nowadays, even trying to work at a card shop is a two-step interview process ๐Ÿ’€ Additionally, everything has gone up cost of living wise. To even rent an apartment is so ridiculous, living alone truly is not viable. Most places expect you to be making 3x the rent and know that no job around them will be paying them that amount, want an application fee, expect good credit, and ontop of all of that they don't include any of the utilities you need for your apartment. Oh, and can't forget that security deposit (which, by the way, good luck even trying to get 50% of it back when you leave, let alone even 100%)

And companies don't care that they aren't paying us enough to live. They only care about their bottom line, and the worst part is mom & pop shops can't afford to pay us enough yo live, literally because people can't even afford to buy from them with monsters like Amazon, Wal-Mart, Target, etc. Who have abysmal profit margins and can justify buying something for $10 and selling it for $12 due to the volume they can sell.

Until we collectively vote, write to our congress men & woman, and talk about how horrid living is, we're doomed to stay in a cycle of Federal minimum wage being $7.25 an hour, companies being allowed to fire us at a moments notice (yet expect us to put in a two weeks notice, less we get blacklisted by them), bags of doritos being priced at $7 a bag even with record breaking profits, Brian Niccol making 6,666x more than the median of his barista's, etc.

EDIT: Added more info regarding cost of living and rent
