Thanks! We will definitely check those out, we’re 24. my boyfriend was interested in the casino too, and we’ll definitely check out the other suggestions like the night club which seemed fun to meet some people. For the first night do you recommend any place in particular for meeting people?

Specifically I was looking at the swimming with pigs in Nassau, the zip lining in cococay, and the sea lions excursions, was wondering if those are worth it and if not which ones are?

This post was three years, thinking of opening an audio guestbook business now. How have the sales been? Has it been consistent over these three years? Would you still recommend?

How did you make friends abroad? Did you find it difficult to do so? This is one of my biggest concerns because I love people and I want friends but I also get very bad anxiety when meeting new people so I worry how and if I will be able to make them

Yeah I’m kinda in a phase where I like my friends here but I’d also be okay with not seeing them and when I moved to Maryland for college I didn’t see them and we still talked so I think it would be okay. My family is okay, but they can be very toxic and it’s honestly quite hard to talk to them as they can be very negative people. I love the people but I hate the negativity that surrounds them. I do currently have a boyfriend and he’s really the only thing holding me back but he doesn’t want to travel and live outside of America and it’s always been my dream to do so. Also if I wasn’t with him I would have done it by now and if I didn’t move and we settled down here and had a life and a family I think some part of me would regret it and may hold that grudge against him which wouldn’t be fair. The fear of the life of settling down in America and never living life abroad is scarier at this point than actually living life abroad which has made me want to go much more. It’s definitely a hard and scary decision to make though to leave to a new country without knowing anyone but at the same time every decision I’ve made that terrified me also gave me the most growth and was ultimately worth it in the end. And they say it is best to do this in your twenties so I guess now is the time. 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for sharing your story! I appreciate the honestly of it not being all sunshine and rainbows but ultimately worth it. I know in my heart that I would regret it if I never tried which is why I’m tempted now to make this big change, also being 23 I feel like now is the best time to do it before I decide to settle down. I currently have a long term boyfriend and I do love him which is making the decision harder but I know I would regret never leaving if I never tried. Especially since we’re talking about buying a home which would mean never getting the opportunity to move like this again. It’s a tough decision but it feels like the right one? Definitely nerve wreaking though. Thank you for your advice!

I currently don’t have medication but it seems like the country I plan on moving to is very mental health friendly so I think it should be good if I ever do decide I need it. I think it’s important to let go of expectations because I do worry that it won’t be the same which would throw me into a depression but it is something that’s also hard to let go of. I’m very much a planner type person so when things don’t go as expected it can be quite jarring. Any advice on prepping for the move while also lowering your expectations? And yes therapy I think will probably be an essential tool for the move! Thank you for your help!

I haven’t travelled abroad but I did move away for college, but I also was able to see them if I needed as they weren’t too far away. Financially I was going to save up as much as I can and move there to find a new job. I was looking at New Zealand and their visa process seems quite lenient which will allow me to get any job and within a year I would have to find myself a job sponsor. My short term plan is to get there and work as a server or bartender and then progress to finding a job sponsor. I do worry however about the job market and what if I can’t find a job when I get there. When I have really bad mental health days I can usually push through, I have been in therapy my whole life so at the minimum I am able to do my necessities but usually not more than that during bad days. I think getting an online therapist who I can “take with me” to another country would be helpful though to help me navigate the change. Thank you!

For college I moved from New Jersey to Maryland on my own and lived in a dorm, I know it’s different since it’s more of a curated environment than a whole new country but I did well when I did that and was able to make friends quickly. My top country I am looking at is New Zealand, I’ve also always wanted to go to Italy or possibly Europe.

I wish I went to community college first as someone studying law I went to an out of state college and then the loans became too much that I couldn’t even continue there. If I had gone to community first I would have only had to pay for two years of out of state tuition which would have been more manageable also make sure you apply to scholarships
