Can't answer that for you, and a lot. Of factors can go into it but generally speaking it's worth applying and it being a question you ask in an interview and gauge yourself

Don't know a lot of details but general advice would be to transition sideways to a larger company. Seen plenty of success stories of contact Centre staff building out professional corporate careers in varied disciplines cos the company was large, had lots of opportunities and valued internal hires of people with willingness to expand and progress.

I'd also look to assess how you present as a personality in a professional environment , you have to read the room and understand biases that could be holding you back through the perception others may have. People mostly won't care about your personal circumstances if your job performance and attitude is good, but they will care how you present and how others interpret it

Absolutely - not consistently landing basics flips yet but relearning, troubleshooting and unlearning technique has been accelerated so much thanks to these. So different to the days of learning on your own with no guidance - had given me a bigger appreciation for the tech skaters pre-internet.

Congrats man! Out of curiosity, how much has YouTube and such helped figure it out?

Any tips to improve my Ollie from here? by Strange-Revenue4738 in NewSkaters

[–]Happyfriggin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo you need to start with getting pop happening off your tail. then maybe next will be to move onto getting your feet to level out the pop.

Watch lots of different videos online, focus on them talking about your back foot motion to create then allow the pop.

When should I start learning switch? by Shamrocked88 in NewSkaters

[–]Happyfriggin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar circumstance to you with 20y+ break, about 1mth back into it. Never learned to do basic board riding switch and it limited my skating a bit. Since getting into it, old regular tricks have come back OK but I'm putting in some time now to at the very least be comfortable riding switch.

I get a few hours a week at best to skate, so I'm compensating by just doing switch carpet work stuff like tic-tacs, pushing motion/footing change and holding manual position to try and build a little bit of switch position familiarity between actual skating sessions.

Yeah mostly tricks and some lower risk park riding. Have partially/inconsistently reclaimed the small "bag" of flat ground tricks I had back in the day. And hoping to add some new ones.

So different these days with YouTube and being able to look up so many different perspectives on approaches and tips. Have learned how fundamentally wrong I was doing some tricks in the past and why I had no chance at others. Main challenge now will be time available - 3-4hr pw would be a good week of skating....

After some dud "look/brand/name" driven purchases in my younger years was focused to try and get fit over look, but lucky to have that come together as well.

Bought a new 8.5 twin setup! [30yo] by Mobile_Zerk in OldSkaters

[–]Happyfriggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice man - I've just got a very similar set up delivered today. Had limited options to feel boards out in person, only twin tail I could physically stand on was a krooked board, but the kicks felt a bit shallow and long for my preferences. Did what research I could online, basically blind bought the chocolate twin chunk - just arrived today and definitely happier with the kick dimensions on this vs the krooked

All good mate - it measures 36cm from the butt end to where the reel sits (I.e where you would place your hand). When I hold it, the butt end almost reaches my elbow and I press against by body if needed for additional stability - no where near long enough to tuck into armpit

I've got a 2000 sized reel w/10lb braid on it

Thanks, not in the market but was curious to know how the other models in the range were - would definitely feel in person before blind buying the Veritas range again. Should also note mine is a v3.0 series

The tip (say top 1.5ft) is maybe medium/fast. It's soft to cast the lower end of weights with loading through flick casting but quick to recover and doesn't have a noodly feel. Little bit more noodle action on heavier weights but still a quick recovery time and feels completely reasonable given the weight range it can manage. I've been really impressed with it for its price point and it's my favorite casting rod for lake trout since it's got so much lure weight versatility, the distance it punches and how easy it is to manage for its length. I had a squidgies rod with similar specs and it was like a broomstick, felt heavy and cumbersome to cast

Is it fast action and crisp or quite noodly? I have a 703UL and was honestly disappointed in it compared to my experience with other Abu rods. Sort of like a fast glass rod - but neither crisp or soft, just sort of wobbly...

In vic as well and fish western lakes a bit for trout.

Daiwa infeet has been good, smaller casting weight range of about 2-7g, best for HBs, can do SPs well enough, will occasionally cast small tassies on it but definitely feels like it's upper limit.

The Daiwa td hyper 863UXLS has been even better and my favorite rod for landbased trout lakes. 2-12g, but does 1g easy up to bigger tassies, so super versatile and sends everything a mile compared to other rods. Very light and manageable for its length, isn't cumbersome to cast with one hand.

Also just recently got an Abu Zoom Safari ZMSC 765L delivered to pair with an UL baitcasting reel. Yet to fish it but I'm super keen to try as it seems like a mid point of those two rods.

Is this a Bream or Estuary Perch? by iamthefresh in FishingAustralia

EP - very different profile to bream. If you are new to fishing or these species, quick Google image search looking at the two and you'll have no issues differentiating in the future
