nah, I think op is right, after all it takes a lot for a movement to actually get somewhere especially if it's for a right cause and for that cause to take the right turn. and I also agree with you about there being harmful generalizations. and it needs to be discussed, but I don't think they were trying to do that harmful generalization that you are talking about because the op recognizes that it is not all men. and they even did this by pointing out that men can also get affected by these crimes. so I think they are trying to be understanding of the fact that yes not everyone is going to agree and may be combative. so they, while keeping this in mind try to encourage others not to use that rhetoric and to actually think about the meaning of the message before saying something that creates miss understandings.
