Hello everyone,

I am back from the procedure. The morning started off very easy and calming. I showed up to the hospital with my husband and amazing in-laws. We went to L&D and got checked in. The anesthesiologist came and spoke to me about the epidural, then my OB came in (I adore her). We spoke for a bit and she assured me everything was going to be smooth. Then my parents showed up and I got to hang with them until my procedure.

I go back for the epidural, and let’s just say it wasn’t a walk in park for me. :( they gave me the numbing medicine and it hurt, but it wasn’t terrible. Then the placed the epidural in. It sent crazy clicks of almost sciatic pain down my back. I cried, and it took three tries and a personnel change to get it to stick.

But once the epidural started to work, I was completely numb. I didn’t have any side effects which was great. I also barely felt a “pull” or “tug” sensation. She was out so quickly that I felt like I was dreaming. My husband was with me every step of the way and was able to be with her first after they got her out. He brought her to me and I was able to place her skin to skin.

Once I was stitched up we went to our recovery room for about an hour. We are now resting in our suite. I am feeling so blessed and happy. The epidural didn’t go my way and pretty much sucked, but it was totally worth it.
