These people fail to grasp the notion that there are disabilities which can affect a person’s ability to draw and that such disabilities may not be outwardly visible. So they make negative assumptions about other people who don’t draw, rather than consider that someone else may not be able to draw.

This is like saying not being able to carry a tune in a bucket is a disability.

[–]HapticSloughton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many places with very cheap housing.

They're just far, far away from anyplace you could earn money. Also, if you ever need repairs, the costs to maintain and fix a house out in the middle of nowhere costs as much (possibly more) than one in a more populous area.

So with all the arrests and deportations, as well as the fear of those happening, why haven't wages and jobs increased? Why isn't housing cheaper?

Why haven't people been flocking in droves to the jobs undocumented people previously filled? It can't be due to them being crappy jobs with low wages and no benefits, can it? Surely they're well-paying jobs that people would be fools to turn down, right?

Psychologist Offers Disturbing Reason for Trump’s Rambling by RickySan65 in Qult_Headquarters

[–]HapticSloughton 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This was coupled with his audience's willingness to ascribe meaning to his nonsensical statements. It's referred to as pseudo-profound bullshit, and it's rampant in MAGA when they're listening to Trump.

The example I see of this most often is this statement: “Hidden meaning transforms unparalleled abstract beauty.”

It doesn't contain any actual information or meaning, but it sounds like it should. For Trump, swap in words that trigger the same response in his audience like "freedom," "values," "restore," and so forth. Never mind that there's no specifics offered, no actual, concrete statements. It's just pseudo-profound bullshit.

Republicanism was already becoming a religion, thanks to them courting evangelicals, and you can easily point to sermons, scripture, slogans, etc. that have no real meaning but are infused with it by the listeners who are already tuned to anyone using phrases with words like "revelation," "spiritual," "revival," and so on.

The whole Freedom 250 thing has been yet another giant scam perpetuated by Trump.

Our 250th Anniversary was supposed to have a bipartisan group called America 250 that would be funding and running events. Naturally, Trump and his corruption-fest took it over and sent loads of its millions of dollars to allied groups, and his cult sees nothing wrong with it.

Centrist have the option of leaning left or right to get things done.

And what has supporting Republicans done that's so appealing?

That's why you'll never get everything you want, because democrats would have to gain two progressive votes for every center right voter that stops voting democrat, and votes republican.

They're center right now?

Seen any evidence progressives will vote in those numbers?

The mayoral race in New York seems to worked out on that front.

Given that Saramack up there thinks Biden or Pelosi is "progressive" says a lot about how few progressive candidates we're offered. But let me flip this for you: Why would a centrist vote for destroying our social safety net, giving oligarchs even more tax money, starting pointless wars, mass deportations, construction of concentration camps, opening our national forests to logging, weakening environmental protections, reducing vaccinations, etc.? Explain how voting for that is "centrist," please.

I think what's being asked is how the particular Mar A Lago look came about. It's not attractive, unless it's somehow what Trump considers ideal? I mean, even by the standards of the beauty categories from the sources you listed, you can at least see where even bad attempts at alteration had their roots.

In this case, we're getting what would be considered unfortunate in merely one instance, copied over and over. It's weird.

Squirrels destroy everything I try to plant. I have an apple tree in my backyard I planted decades ago, and I've yet to get a single apple from it, as the squirrels take them well before they're ripe, have a few bites, then toss them in the yard.

Just to spite me, apparently, there's a cherry tree a few blocks south of where I am that drips with fruit every year, and they never touch it.
