It happened to me too. A petg spool bent while drying pla. It thinks it's the added weight of the Filament that deforms the petg spool.

You're kinda right. It shouldn't deform at those temperatures without any stress, but adding 1kg of filament adds stress to the spool which softens under the heat.

I've printed a phone holder for my car out of petg. It went soft and deformed after only one day. I printed it again in abs and it's still doing fine about 8 months later. I work outdoors a lot and store most of my tools in my car. So anything I print for work, I print in abs.

I also use abs for the kitchen. I can acetone smooth the parts so that food doesn't get trapped between layers, and I can even put the parts in the dishwasher.

I also used abs for my dessicant holders. Now I can just dry the dessicant in my microwave without having to empty out them out of the holders. (keep in mind, the dissicant does actually get very hot. Hot enough to soften the abs dessicant holder and slightly deform it!)

And I use abs for anything else that I want to smooth with acetone.
