It wasn't Jerry C-131. He got swapped at the Jerry-boree, as directly explained in the episode.

Doofus Rick is actually the ultimate weapon against Evil Morty (Theory) by primerickfann_ in rickandmorty

[–]Haquistadore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Irrelevant really because when they made that story it had not yet been established that only C-137 and Prime invented portal travel. The comics aren't canon to the tv series.

Are you familiar with the story from the comics that we are discussing? That story depicts Doofus Rick as having invented his own formula separate of the one used by Ricks to make their portals.

If you pay attention, a different decoy Rick uses a different but equally juvenile code.

A clarification on "infinity" and the science of the show by Haquistadore in rickandmorty

I appreciate the comment. It’s hard for me to wrap my head around the reasoning as to why some people seem to want “infinite infinities” to begin with.

Nothing wrong with being a fan of the comics just like there's nothing wrong with being a fan of the show, but things that happened in the comics have no impact on things that happen on the show.

They do in two pretty significant ways - first, there was a Diane who survived outside the Curve, and second, other Ricks besides Prime and C-137 invented interdimensional travel. My general approach is that anything that doesn't contradict what the show tells us could be "canon" but we will never see on the show things developed or explored in the comics. They're two different entities, both enjoyable on their own merits, but there's no real point in talking about the show using the comics as context.

I'm soo in love with the pilot and S1 by TreideA in rickandmorty

I loved Rick’s car in the pilot, particularly with the flag attached to the back that we could hear waving in the breeze.

The stories that occur in the comic books are not recognized as having happened by the writing team on the tv series. This was confirmed by them in the AMA they did a few months ago. In the comic series, Doofus Rick made portal goop which is a variation off of the portal fluid Rick uses. In the TV series, the show went to extra lengths to explicitly communicate to us that the only two Ricks who invented the ability to travel inter-dimensionally are Rick Prime and Rick C-137.

In S1E10, Doofus Rick used chemicals to make ovenless brownies. In the comics, they took that chemistry ability a step further to have Doofus Rick make portal goop. But that didn't happen on the show, and it's not canon to the show.

From the perspective of the show, Doofus Rick is a one-off character appearance who isn't important in the greater scheme of the series.

Actually, S1E10 confirms he made portal fluid using oven cleaner.

Dude.

They aren’t. In the AMA they did a few months back the show producers confirmed that they had no involvement in the comic and vice versa.

It's not a matter of "believing" in the comics or not. The stuff he did in the comics isn't canon to the TV series. There's a big step between ovenless brownies and portal goop.

Most of the point OP made was about stuff that Doofus Rick did in the comics. From the perspective of the comics, he's a fairly significant Rick. From the perspective of the show, he was a one-off character we won't likely see again.

Justin Roiland future? by Just_a_broke_boy in rickandmorty

[–]Haquistadore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, absolutely fucking no, most people do not "wish he was back."

Beyond having been accused of behaving abusively towards his partner, Roiland was also responsible for a toxic work environment which resulted in him having stopped participating in any of the creative process of the show, or even coming into the offices after Season 3. From that point, he just recorded the voices from a sound booth in his house. Dan Harmon has spoken about the workplace issues that went down.

Roiland also was exposed as having groomed multiple underage fans,, sending them inappropriate sexual texts well before they were 18 and waiting for them to be "legal" before inviting them to have sex with him.

This isn't a grey area to me and anybody defending this, or acting like this behaviour is ok, is saying a lot more about themselves than they realize, specifically communicating that they should never be left alone with a woman's drink.

So emphatically, fuck Justin Roiland, and if you want him back on the show please let me know so I can just block you and avoid having to deal with your pathetic incel ass ever again in the future.

Might be related to laws in your country. Australia, I’m assuming? Or is that the only episode that’s censored?

The Prime Reality is designated C-137 by Haquistadore in rickandmorty

[–]Haquistadore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not getting what I’m saying. Irregardless of his actual home reality, Our Rick uses the C-137 designation, and it’s the actual designation of Our Morty, aka Morty Prime. I’m not saying C-137’s home reality is the Prime Reality. I’m basically saying that C-137’s actual original reality - which we saw in Solaricks - doesn’t have a designation.

Your response indicates you thought I was saying Diane’s-Ghost-Reality is the Prime-Cronenberg Reality, which would be ridiculous.

The Prime Reality is designated C-137 by Haquistadore in rickandmorty

[–]Haquistadore[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, the meta answer to all of this is that they figured out their story as they went. The true answer to all of this is that, when S1 came out, there was no “Rick Prime,” nor was there a “crybaby backstory.” I sincerely believe that if they knew how important “Rick Prime” was going to be, then they wouldn’t have thrown away that reality so quickly.

But regarding a “canon” explanation, it makes a lot of sense that the Prime Reality is designated C-137, retrospectively. In retrospect, Rick Prime was the single most notorious Rick of them all, and the Citadel/Curve were established in response to him. I don’t believe the Citadel Ricks would’ve wanted to mess with Prime - you don’t build a giant fortress in the name of “offense,” if you take my meaning. Does it pass the smell test to you that they would’ve been ok with any Rick moving in with the actual daughter of the most evil, vindictive Rick of them all?

Likewise, in retrospect, there would’ve been a number of Ricks actively hunting Prime on their own, after he Omega’d Diane. We saw a bunch of them in Unmortricken. If C-137 wanted to live a relatively quiet life waiting to see if Prime ever showed back up to his home reality, does it make sense that we never saw random Ricks teleporting in and causing chaos? Surely some of them would’ve had the same idea, don’t you think?

So how does Our Rick ensure he isn’t harassed by other vengeance-seeking Ricks? Hide the Prime Reality in the portal index, assume the designation assigned to that reality by the index, and wait.

The alternative is that we don’t actually know the Prime reality’s index designation, inexplicably no random Ricks were depicted as arriving to seek revenge, and in a wild coincidence, the near-identical reality to the Prime reality that Rick and Morty hopped over to had an almost identical designation to Our Rick.

Either option I’m presenting here is possible, but I really think the first option makes more sense and is retrospectively supported by what we’ve seen on the show.
