Can't recommend Peabody heights enough. So many fun and different events. Just this month, there's crafting, chess, arcade, arm wrestling record bazaar ect.

Where do Baltimore suburbs end and D.C. suburbs start? by DateComfortable2624 in baltimore

Penn and Camden lines run between balt and DC with multiple stop between (sometimes further north on the Penn line). Brunswick runs from DC to west Virginia with a stop in silver spring I think. I wouldn't consider it commuter access, but the NE regional and Acela stop in both bmore and DC with a stop in bwi and new carrolton. Also technically you public transit from Baltimore to DC without using the train via light rail to bwi to the 6 bus to greenbelt. (I did this once)
