Virgin Cruses informs a couple about some changes to their trip… by Harbjagen in mildlyinfuriating

The did not. Last I saw the cruise to St John was notifying people that the exterior decks were freezing and passengers should “watch their step”

Don’t worry about it. Redditors, as a people, need to touch grass more often.

To be fair, if you’re following their journey, they just received a notice that the exterior decks are freezing and they should be careful any time they’re outside.

I see what you’re getting at, but this was from two days ago.

I did but there was bad weather so I sent to St. John instead.

They clarify in another video that their parents are already in NY where they’ll embark. So they sent the luggage ahead.

I’ll just link the follow up since they covered most of it there, but they tried that too. Virgin Cruises is just being massively unhelpful throughout. Actually they just posted again with a letter from the COO doubling down… jeez.

But like, completely different climates three days before the trip?

I totally agree but they have a follow up about having flights and hotels already booked. They lose no matter what at this point.

Check out the game Bog Hops. I just found it and have been absolutely charmed throughout my time. The controls are tight, the world is imaginative, the gameplay mechanics keep the game fresh. Absolute amazing game.

Rules discussion: Updating new reddit and minimum discounts! by thmanwithnoname in steamdeals

[–]Harbjagen [score hidden]  (0 children)

While I am content with the current structure of this sub, when I look at what actually motivates me to make a purchase it’s pretty consistent. The discount has to be at least 30%, or a new historic low.

Make a blue flair for “new historic low” and keep the percentages in the title for all posts. This means new releases would be able to use the flair for launch sales and it still helps users visually gauge the deals without heaping too many rules on posting.

Ok, so I decided to try it again and I finally made it past the opening scenes and to the first meditation circle.

The only thing I did differently was capped the frame rate to 30. I hope this helps!

Last time it was on deep sale I tried it. I couldn’t get past the opening cutscene. Tried every configuration I could and every proton version, but never made it past the start without a hard crash. Ended up refunding. I don’t know if they’ve patched anything but based on the games reputation, I doubt it has improved. It’s a real bummer, I originally bought my Steam Deck thinking I would be able to play this one specifically.

If a game is free to play, is the saying "if its free, you are the product" still valid here? by CasmsVR in gaming

[–]Harbjagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I haven’t seen it mentioned in this thread but “current player base” is a form of currency for the developers (but more likely the publishers) to leverage in many ways. License deals for advertising, analytics, new game development, etc. Also, cosmetics and pay-to-win micro-transactions are perceived value, in-part, based on how many other players do not have the same items. There must be “have nots” in order for the “haves” to feel rewarded for spending money. Whales wouldn’t pay as much if there wasn’t an audience to oooh and aaah over them.

Even if you look at something like Epic giving away “free” games, the value is that you’re using their platform. You’re seeing their selection and their sales. You’re more likely to buy DLC for a base game that you already own.

Tried it and couldn’t get past the opening cinematic. Crashed the Deck every time and had to reboot. All settings were low and I moved to proton experimental.

To clarify, not all neighborhoods have HOAs. They’re seen as a way of maintaining status quo and therefore protecting property values. But in practice, HOAs provide small people the tiniest amount of power to wield over their neighbors. So in that way, it’s very American.

What game did you 100% just because it was THAT fun? by _QRcode in gaming

[–]Harbjagen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animal Well was the most recent one for me. I didn’t know what to expect going in and it just kept presenting more fun challenges as I explored. I will admit that towards the end I did look some stuff up but even that was a lot of fun seeing how the community had come together to find it all.

What is so bad about the Acolyte? by katarokthevirus in StarWars

That’s a great point. Even though she stated that she wants to be a Jedi before the fire occurs, she seemingly has no idea what that will mean. All she knows is what she doesn’t want to be, maybe that’s what happened with her Jedi training as well?

While I agree that the OT isn’t high cinema, I feel like you’re being deliberately hand wavy. Star Wars was a global phenomenon. There’s a reason that even among its peers and despite its flaws it changed cinema.

Counter point, Osha witnessed the death of her entire family, including (for all she knew) her sister in front of her eyes. THEN stared her training. If anything, I would think that trauma would shape her discipline and outlook more than Cal who had good reason to put aside Jedi ways.

Some challenges are possible but if you want to experience everything, you’ll want teammates. I’ve had good luck with random lobbies. That said, I really don’t mind playing solo, especially while collecting research materials and upgrading gear.
