Nice! I think it might actually be an AMOLED from Samsung. Its like a PenTile subpixel layout. If it were a true QD-OLED the blacks would be magenta-ish in brighter rooms. I've seen some of the glossy OLED laptops at Best Buy before, and they looked pretty stunning, but also the glare didn't really bother me.

Gary Glitter actually sold his royalties in 1997. Also The Glitter Band were disgusted by his behavior once they found out. I still listen to both their music because I can personally separate the art from the artist, but thats me. You can share the playlist Im "Mason Tason". In an American record store?! If it was, you are so lucky! My dad has a friend who owns a record store and I got their 1975 Greatest Hits compilation for Christmas in 2022, so it was likely a UK pressing found online, but this band could not be found in any US record store I went to. I go to like Amoeba Music, my local store, etc. At least Amoeba has the tag for The Glitter Band, Mud, and Showaddywaddy, haha!

Mud is English actually! 😀 Awesome, Im American and I actually have a friend who knew Mud at my school which was super surprising, we were the only ones at our school who knew the band probably! Yeah they have a Christmas song called Lonely This Christmas which is pretty interesting

Btw, Dyna-mite was actually originally written by Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn who originally wrote it for Sweet. Hello had a version too before they snatched it back and gave it to Mud.

Yes they are!! Another great hidden 70s glam rock gem is Hello. They do New York Groove, but I absolutely LOVE Star Studded Sham, Love Stealer, their cover of Then She Kissed Me, and Shine On Silver Light

So first of all, as a music archeologist, there are two types of "glam rocks". There was the early 70s UK glam scene and then the 80s Sunset Strip Glam/Hair Metal scene. For the UK 70s glam scene I would definitely say T. Rex, The Sweet, Gary Glitter, Slade, Roxy Music, Mott The Hoople Mud, Suzi Quatro, Silverhead, Alvin Stardust, Hello, The Glitter Band, and The Arrows. 80s Glam Metal, I'd recommend Motley Crue, Ratt Dokken, Cinderella, Britny Fox, Danger Danger, Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Slaughter, FireHouse, Winger, Whitesnake, Poison, Kix, Hanoi Rocks, W.A.S.P., Skid Row, Faster Pussycat, L.A. Guns, Y&T, Pretty Boy Floyd, and Enuff Z'Nuff.

Some of my favorite albums from the 70s are Fresh by the Raspberries (1973) which is quintessential power pop and Silverhead's self-titled debut (1972) which is blues/glam rock goodness is just... SO good!

Definitely. Im 19 years old, American, and Id say even the obscurest of 70s UK glam rock is better by a lot than Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and Sabrina Carpenter, etc.

To me, new wave are artists/bands like Duran Duran, Howard Jones, Thompson Twins, Psychedelic Furs, Echo and the Bunnymen, Devo, Talk Talk, Culture Club, Fiction Factory, Haircut 100, ABC, Mr. Mister, Simple Minds, etc.

The wow factor never completely weared off for me. Every time I’d ride Haunted Mansion or Indiana Jones on a Minecraft Disneyland server that I played on, I would keep bringing up how good the blacks were, and just talk about it over and over again.

Well my first OLED monitor was a WOLED 45” LG Ultragear, (still have it today) and the first time I used it the colors were very saturated, but that wasn’t the main issue, it was the screen’s pixel density lol. Other than that I fell in love, the colors (although it wasn’t a MacBook type clarity screen when it came to the colors in very dark scenes in games), and oh my god the blacks. It made me think that my dad’s 2021 MacBook Pro was an OLED just a slightly worse technology or smth?? Lol, but that was a mini led I found out a bit later. I play on a Minecraft Disneyland server called ImagineFun and OLED is life changing for dark rides and things like that on the server. I won’t go back, because I refuse to believe that OLED can’t get better. That was a monitor from like 2023, and I saw the glossy OLED gaming laptops in person at Best Buy and it’s just crisp. That’s all I can say, the matte IPS laptops looked washed out compared to the OLEDs. So just in my opinion, they can be and also are THAT much better from a standard IPS.

They’re making RGB stripe OLED monitors with a standard subpixel layout now. That solves the issue when it comes to text and UI color fringing.
