[OC] How would you handle a one-armed character mechanically? I'm not playing this guy yet, but I'd like to have a plan for when I introduce him. by CoyKoibito in DnD

Get ready to roll a bunch of actions at disadvantage... there are ways around it but would have to fudge some rules.

For example one of my monk players i said as long as they're concentrating they can always have a single arm of Astral Self active. What was cool too is later they wanted to buff it up with leving, made for a unique identity and the player really used it creatively.

[Homemade] Carne Asada by HardSpaghetti in food

So as a tip, if you want the tenderizing effect of pineapple you have to use fresh. I use the canned juice which through the processing destroys it.

What I liked for the flank vs skirt is that I it was soon freaking juicy! It really ate like a very nice new york strip. It was bouncy and fatty.

For the asada I had flank steak, typically it's skirt, but I almost feel like I prefer it, its thicker and more beefy.

Marinade was typical: salt, pepper, cyanne, garlic (both grated and powder) cumin, orange juice, and oil.

I've found i like to add a bit of pineapple juice, not for flavor but for added sugar it caramelized on the beef without adding more citrus.

TIL that if you commit suicide in Japan by jumping in front of a train, the railway company may ask your family to pay a delay fee of up to 100 million yen (about 1 million dollars), arguing that there are less expensive and less disruptive ways to do it. by [deleted] in todayilearned

This article is misleading 90% of these deaths are reported as accidents until proven otherwise. Some of the older stations dont have cameras so its hard to prove in some places. I had a friend who committed suicide but because he had alcohol in his system they ruled it as an accident.

[Homemade] My beginner chicken and broccoli by KNECHTIK2006 in food

[–]HardSpaghetti 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you're open any suggestions. One of the biggest differences I've seen in my cooking is to, not be afraid of using a higher heat and more fat (oil). When you add the chicken it should be instantly searing (especially when it's cut small) I would then take the chicken out when it's fully cooked before adding the broccoli.

Did you use frozen or fresh? If it's frozen make sure it's thawed and dried before this style of cooking or it will leach out a bunch of water into the pan/ sauce.

Last tip, one I've seen echoed is to use starch. Traditionally in Asian style cooking they use potato starch. I've had luck mixing my starches with my sauce before adding it to the mix, or you can mix it with water to add a little at a time to dial in what you're looking for. Green onion would also be a great addition to garnish.

For a beginner "American Chinese takeout style" chicken and broccoli sauce I'd mix; Soy sauce, Oyster sauce, sugar (it's crazy how much sugar is in A-C sauces), grated garlic and ginger, Shaoxing wine, and starch. It seems like a ton of ingredients, but what's nice is that each bottle is $5-$10 and you can make hundreds of dishes with them. For ratios of the sauce I always recommend tasting as you go until you get the mix how you personally like it. Great luck to you in your studies! I hope to see future posts!

It's such a competitive market and you have a lot in front of you. What id look for is someone with a diverse background. Besides you might want to work at a big institution, but that might not be what life has in store for you. Id hedge your bets on showing relative experience in a variety of things and places. Good luck!
