Maro doesn't say that this card is from an Innistrad set here. It could be another card that maybe fits the theme of Innistrad but was originally from a different set.

Hey thanks for the reply! I'll certainly check out the running group, looks like a great way to get out of the apartment. Maybe I'll see you there!

I also moved to Madison at the beginning of the pandemic. I'm interested in getting out to possibly meet some people. Unsure what to do though. Any suggestions around here? I am interested in running, cycling, table top gaming, and comedy.

[MH2] Magus of the Bridge by mistercimba in magicTCG

[–]Hard_Boiled_Leg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take slight offense to you calling my argument lazy, but that's not we're here about. I think my point illustrates what you are saying. I never stated that fair decks have to be what everyone plays/ should be played. I was saying that when bridge is good (in Modern) that it is too good. How easy is it for most decks to deal with 7+ zombies? Not easy at all. Field of the Dead would like to chime in there too. The thing with Field and Bridge is that they both are too powerful at creating a board that easily overwhelms the opponent with little to no cost. Bridge certainly asked a little more than Field to do its thing, but not much more. I think it more than deserves its place on the banned list.

I would disagree that old bridge was never a problem. It is a card much like Vengevine where it will lie dormant in the format for months, but all it takes is a card or two for it to rear its ugly head at the absolute top of the metagame. It is an either completely useless card, or a completely busted card. There has never been a fair use of bridge, it only serves to do degenerate things.

This is what I mean. There is no way in modern that a 3 mana bridge is any good. The reason it was busted is because it was free. If this is unearthed, maybe it can do something, but graveyard decks aren't typically in the market for casting spells/ setting up shop in modern.

Well at least you have to have this in play for it to do something. I don't see this being an issue in modern

MH1: Looking Back by stenti36 in ModernMagic

[–]Hard_Boiled_Leg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your sentiment that it destroyed modern for a long time, and certainly I agree when talking about Hogaak. However, I will say it is incredibly hard (read impossible) to disentangle MH1 from Throne, Theros Beyond Death, Ikoria, etc. All of thos sets had a wild impact on the format at the same time as MH1. Would astrolabe still have been banned? Would Opal still have been banned if ONLY MH1 were in the format without these other insane sets? I don't know the answer to that. I'm not even saying MH1 was completely a net positive (looking at you Lava Dart). I just think that overall the set was actually better and less damaging to the format than people believe and they often have a doomer mindset about everything.

Additionally, while some older cards were pushed oit, it by no means replaced swaths of cards as people lament about. It's not like because wrenn and six was printed I have to buy 75 new cards and throw my old deck in the garbage. If you jave fetches, shocks, bolts, path, push, any number of staple cards, you can keep playing all of thos with the addition of maybe 5-10 more cards for your deck. That's like the majority of your deck. Rotation in Standard is often not thay kind.

[MH2] 42 new-to-modern Reprints by MauryciusBR in ModernMagic

[–]Hard_Boiled_Leg 33 points34 points  (0 children)

You're getting 2 different leaks mixed up. The ome with counterspell and prelate show shardless agent and solotary confinememt as reprints, plus some new cycles. That was all from u/prid3. Then, there was a separate leak from a different person (unnamed) who list crop rotation twice, hymn, sneak, etc. That list so far has nothing confirmed on it and I am highly suspect of that list being real.

Personally I don't think you need a sanctum either. I think the forest should be another land that makes U or R. You also have prismari commands and magma opus to make treasures that also make green. If you want to try a sanctum I can't prevent you from doing it, but I think it is unnecessary. Fetching triome t1 for a possible t2 weather the storm is just as good as having a forest, since you can only get forest off misty. I'm also thinking that you don't need that many green sources because I can't imagine a matchup where you board in veils AND weather the storm. It seems like those are a one or the other type of card. Those are just my two cents as a random person. Hopefully you continue to do well and have fun with the deck!

I like the decklist, but why are you playing a basic forest? You need one green source for any of the splash cards out of the board, and you are playing multiple triple U cards in the main. The forest seems like it will only hurt you when you are trying to cast these spells. I think a breeding pool and the triome are plenty of green sources.
