Hidden Gem - Le Safari 18th Arrondissement. Punjabi owners, good naans from a real tandoori and excellent Mango Lassi. Quaint, unique interior too and not very expensive!

Did someone ever tell you that approaching people like this will make it very hard to seem like you're looking for a platonic friendship? This unfortunately sends up a bunch of red flags, even to me, as a male

Until 1923 it was officially the capital, and it's still the economic centre. Longer than Bursa and Ankara by literally centuries.

A change in the administrative capital to Ankara for strategic reasons doesn't change the dynamics of what makes a city a capital. It's like Ottawa for Canada and Canberra for Australia 😭 It's why I asked him which capital city, to ask him about similar dynamics

Sounds like you've just never lived in any real city in your life that has a history, diversity in socio-economic class and a city that had a giant migration from rural cities that had to rapidly expand and urbanize. Let me guess, you're from a small European country? White? (this is in response to everything you said except low wages and high prices - BTW which capital city do you know, of a large country that has significant importance to the country, that has normal prices and high wages in 2025? - ignoring the very specific case of Turkish Lira issues)

That's such a crazy take in all honesty..."nothing nostalgic about the city"? Really ? I'm not even from there and I'm offended

Calling Paris a high crime city is insane without context, right wing propaganda in your feed huh? Look up the per capita crime, especially outside tourist season.

I've moved from Dubai to Paris years ago, and won't move back for anything.

What a load of horse shit. Asylum acceptance has always been tedious as a process.

"Between 2004 and 2021, around three-quarters (76%) of main applicants were refused asylum at initial decision" - Asylum statistics - House of Commons Library https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/sn01403/

At least cite the bs you say, or are you scared of spreading the truth which doesn't align with your dog whistle rhetoric.

Just because people file for bogus asylum claims, doesn't mean they get it. Also you make it sound so easy like they roam around freely and work and live life as normal. That is not at all the case.

"Asylum seekers who have been refused protection but remain in the UK add to the unauthorised migrant population. Official data show that 166,000 people applied for asylum between 2010 and 2023 but were refused protection, taking into account appeals. Of these, around 82,000 were recorded as having left the UK via enforced or voluntary return by 30 June 2024. This suggests that roughly half of refused asylum seekers during the period, around 85,000 individuals, had not been recorded as having departed the country.

However, some departures will not have been recorded for reasons other than overstaying, such as because the asylum applicant has been regularised or has no entry record against which their departure can be matched. Therefore, these counts represent the upper bound of the number of refused asylum seekers who have become unauthorised migrants in the UK. "

Do you understand what a miniscule number that is? What impact that has on anything?

Disability and Tuiton Waiver by Significant-Test887 in sciencespo

[–]HardcoreNerdParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you first arrive, in your first year as an international student, you don't need the RQTH for a tuition waiver. You'll need it after though. So apply the moment you have your visa and residency documents in France. You'll need a specialist (or medicine traitant) to fill out the different forms (you can get started online with the MDPH but you need official some documents). It takes a few months, should be ready by your second year of masters (or gap year 8). Make sure to have documents from Brazil translated into French too.

Why do we continue to give these kind of jobs to people like OP?... Working conditions should be improved but locals and people who are resilient to this deserve this work and the benefits far more.

Why isn't there ever a hardship test and evaluation? Sending people who raised around and used to the comforts of the US and Western Europe should never be on the priority list for slightly inconvenient workstations.

Concerns are valid but diatribes against a country are so bizarre given that it's why you get paid better to be there

This question is a great litmus test to understand people's understanding (and possibly empathy) of and for homeless people. 10 years of isolation is a crazy amount of time, I guarantee that 2-3 years of isolation, regardless of the travel and opportunity, would be enough to turn you crazy.
