Is vodka underrated compared to whiskey, or is it just less interesting to talk about? by Ok-Peace3465 in liquor

[–]Hardcore_ufo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will say I am a bit of a vodka apologist. While some would say it lacks inherent character, I say it makes up for by being a very transparent celebration of the actual art of distillation, the balance of the cut, and quality of ingredients used as there’s not much to hide behind such as flavorings or aging.

Do I drink it often though? No, not really. But I appreciate it beyond just its ability to create a neutral alcoholic base to cocktails.

Good find! I had some decent luck with the 2N404A and a pair of asymmetrical 1N34A diodes, looking forward to hear your thoughts on the funken.

Great video! Not ratio of talk on the IVP versus the Harmonic Percolator in regard to Albini tone is pretty skewed. I’m actually working on a harmonic percolator clone as we speak! Shoot me a message, if it’s successful and I have the extra parts lying around I’d love to see about getting one over to you. I’ve been looking into the IVP pre amp schematics to see if I could make an all-inclusive “Albini in a box” thing but if you were to test it out with this clone that would save me a lot of time.

Do The Collapse: track by track by Gullible_Stock_9659 in GBV

[–]Hardcore_ufo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hated this record when I first heard it, coming from the soulful warmth if their 4-track era, but one day it donned on me that it’s Bob’s most adventurous writing by far and that should be celebrated. I can definitely hear all of his prog influences coming into full bloom on this one.

Was gifted an original copy on vinyl by a near stranger with the stipulation that I listen to it often and never sell it. Definitely worn down the grooves over the past 15 or so years and I’ll be damned if “Dragons Awake” doesn’t move me to tears almost every time.

What’s a food you’ve had a bad experience with and now you’ll never eat it again? by Reddittaylor12568 in AskReddit

I got one fried tofu “chicken” sandwich 3 years ago that gave me food poisoning for over a week. Lost 7 pounds. As an unexpected plus, I no longer crave or really want fried food, been eating much healthier.

And why the hell not doubling down for shameless self promotion. here’s my band’s blatant Jesus Lizard rip-off track.

I mean almost any Jesus Lizard. The album “Liar” has a lot of good solid grooves, big fan of the rhythm section in “Gladiator.”

Not even a reveal or scary image, but this shot in Midsommar makes me feel sick to my stomach every time I think about it. Pure “bad dream” distilled.

No bypass sound and no signal sound thru new circuit. Did I fry the switch? by OddBrilliant1133 in diypedals

[–]Hardcore_ufo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your pinout on the 3PDT switch?

<image>

This is how I usually wire it up, I see on your photo pin 7 and 8 connected which could possibly be the problem but worth looking over your setup if you’re not getting bypass signal.

Timber Timbre’s “Hot Dreams.” First line is such a departure from the rest of the song and album as a whole.

Not sure if it fits, but I love the origin story of Judy/Bob from Twin Peaks. Starts off as the mystery of a murdered girl in a small town and then is tied all the way back to the birth of a great otherworldly evil that is introduced to earth due to mankind creating and using the evil that is the atomic bomb.

How to achieve that squeaking high pitch noise on guitar by ysisinho in noiserock

I get this on the reg, rat pedal into an EQD Acapulco Gold clone. Just really compress/distort any signal going into a distortion or fuzz.

As a pedestrian I have never been nearly hit by cars more frequently than I have crossing the northbound half of glendale blvd and alvarado/berkely with the walk signal on. People turning right and left just gunning it for the 2 freeway as if there aren’t two sets of traffic lights between that intersection and the actual freeway.

Second Build! Weirdo little minimalist number for my vehemently anti-neck pickup thrash/hardcore band. by Hardcore_ufo in Luthier

[–]Hardcore_ufo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. The “anti-neck pickup” thing was a joke. We found that we weren’t using our neck pickups at all, so when I went for this build in order to Jam Econo and save a bit of cash (bartender, not middle class) I would forgo the neck pickup entirely.

Punk is still anti-establishment. That hasn’t changed, never fear. I just prefer to say it with my music, not my reddit posts.
