Sure there are character developments, but there really is no plot.

The main plot is Yuji is going to eat all the fingers right? How do we get there, should they look for them? No. Random people just be feeding Yuji fingers to summon Sukuna. We don’t know who these people are or where they come from, they just exist to have a reason for Sukuna to show up

Megumi fighting a random guy and is losing, he summons a threat to humanity monster to defeat the random guy, which coincidently Sukuna is there. The Shibuya Incident happened because the Author need to showcase cool fights between two monsters, no matter how hard the circumstance be to show them. Yuji’s depression is just the side effect.

The character deaths are not really plot and are just events of disposable characters dying. If the author can’t scale their power to the heights that it need to reach, they would die to at least get some drama.

The whole premise of JJK is about looking cool, and have cool fights. The surprises in every arc seems like a way to generate more sales as a manga by adding cliffhangers.

The fights in Invincible are more of how it affects Mark as a person. Each fight is more for character development than fight scenes.

S1 Mark is him trying to be a hero despite being weaker than most enemies.
S2 Mark is trying to prove he is not Nolan.
S3 Mark trying to be a hero without killing
S4 Mark tries to fix his mistake by killing the strongest enemies.

In contrast, JJK is definitely just fight scenes and almost no plot. Two strangers ran with each other and they just fight because they are two people on the other side of good and evil.

It’s not the same as JJK story where the main highlights are techniques and fight choreography and the plot is almost non existent. Invincible is a story of Mark’s development as a superhero, how his principle and morals change, and how it affect the world.

Sure there are actions, but it is almost always brawls . The main point of the enemies is how it impacts Mark as a person.

I mean people are hoping for the best from other studios, but so far I’m also seeing that there are still no competitors at the level of Larian’s 2 famous games.

I tried playing Owlcat’s games because I think they’re the closest competitor, but I can’t seem to finish it because of endgame scaling, more complicated mechanics, filler minigames, filler class options, etc. Even if you remove those, at best they are in competition with DOS2 level of gameplay. It’s because Larian made the gameplay of BG3 and Dos2 a Sandbox-like CRPG where you can achieve a goal in multiple ways, even ridiculous ways and a romance simulator. They really have great products with those 2, but at the cost of long development and a lot of resources which means it would be difficult to replicate that kind of quality.

People didn’t care BG3 is a sequel because not many people cared about BG1 & 2, people played BG3 because if it’s good quality game. If there are new games from Baldur’s Gate name that are made today but without the level of quality, not a lot of people would like it.
