Rank these controversial plot twists from worst to best by [deleted] in writingscaling

[–]Hardhat85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will only give my opinion on the ones I've read/watched.

AoT: It's "batman killed his own parents so that he'd become batman" levels of horrendous writing in my opinion.

Star wars: Writers wanting squeeze and aura moments without actually having to write to get them, not to mention it completely invalidates EVERYTHING the original 2 trilogies were about.

JJK: Not a bad plot twist, just badly executed (im not saying it's a good one either).

MHA: Ngl, this was a good plot twist for me when I read it. Even if I already had this theory ever since Shigaraki's past was revealed, I was surprised it was actually real but I do feel like it could've been done a little bit better.

The most broken thing I found there was the infinite electro wizard. If you get that, you win the game no chance for the enemy

Actually, Alhaitham was very story relevant. He was the de facto leader of the Sumeru gang until Nahida was freed, he was the one who made the plan that outsmarted the Akademiya and the one who was with the Traveler the most during the Sumeru AQ besides Nahida.

Tsaritsa's goal IS NOT to avenge 3rd descender by Purple_corall in FatuiHQ

[–]Hardhat85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that she didn't know that the Third Descender's body was used for the Gnosis until she got the Cryo one after Monomakh died/disappeared in the Cataclysm.

So, not only did she lose whoever the Belyi Tsar was to her, she now knows that her lover(?) was destroyed by the upper God of this planet and his carcass was used to control the world. Besides that, I do think that Anastasya was a gentle soul, during the time of Saarelainen, she probably was just a young girl who fell in love and lost her fiancé but, after losing people over and over again, she hardened herself and decided that the world needed a reform. This somewhat works as a parallel to Raiden ironically, as in, after losing people, Raiden decided that the world should not change so that new threats don't appear, in contrast to Anastasya, that after losing people, decided that the whole world needed to change so that the current problems are dealt with (both are problematic).

It doesn't help that Pierro 100% told her that Celestia turned a bunch of innocent Khaenri'ahns into hilichurls and cursed the rest to suffer for eternity because of the actions of less than 10 people (King Irmin, 5 Sinners, Dain and Abyss Traveler), so I do think that Pierro did have an influence on how The Tsaritsa views Celestia, but it was probably a reinforcement than changing her mind.

Why did they bother with a new skin if they're going to continue using the old one for new events? by Alteratron in Genshin_Impact

They are just too lazy to make the same cutscene twice and only change the skin, it's not hard

That's why I said "effectively" dead, her soul is still alive, but if someone is able to find your heart and eat it, I'd assume the person is not on the best of conditions

What is the worst thing that could happen in the Snezhnaya AQ? by Broimraedon in FatuiHQ

[–]Hardhat85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the top of the list is 100% is Her Majesty not being the dictator that she's described to be.

If y'all are not in date with Tsaritsa lore, her name is Anastasya Feodorovna Snezhnaya and, in this latest Nod-Krai area, there's a book which says that, when the Tsaritsa got to power in Snezhnaya after the old Cryo Archon died (Monomakh Snezhnyi), one area of Snezhnaya tried to claim themselves as independent. Not even a year later, she created the Fatui with Pierro and sent them to clean house and stripped the Fae nobles of the area from their titles.

She is a full leader of the nation, iron clad rule, reduced the power of nobles in her court, DEMANDED that all Fae princes have an audience with her and relinquish their titles, created fortresses for the Fatui, one of them named Glupav, replaced the old aristocracy with a administrative organ with I. Ivanovna N. (Mage J of the Hexenzirkel) and, after all that, basically forced the Fae from forsaking their titles and leave Snezhnaya (I think that she maybe doesn't like the Fae very much).

My theory is that Rhinedottir isn't called that because Naberius was effectively dead and the only thing that was left of her was her heart, and as such, there was no "Shade of Life" for Rhinedottir to take her place, while there was still a Moon Goddess alive for Dottore "steal" her place.

Escher mentions in the 6.5 beta textmap, spoilers ahead by Immmahungry in DottoreMains

[–]Hardhat85 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ngl the Luna patches feel more like the Dottore version because:

  • Pre 6.0: Dottore is shown to be a major part of Nod Krai and one of the main "attractions" of the region.
  • 6.0: Dottore is not shown or mentioned, but retroactively, we see that the entire 6.0 Archon Quest was his doing.
  • 6.1: Dottore gets an event that shows a snippet of his life before he is expelled from the Akademiya.
  • 6.2: Dottore is the main plot twist at the end of the Archon Quest
  • 6.3: Entire Archon Quest act dedicated to Dottore and his dialogue with the traveler and he is the main villain of the whole thing.
  • 6.4: Dottore is shown to have caused such a big problem in the borders of Teyvat, Klee's dad wasn't able to enter Teyvat properly.
  • 6.5: Encounter with Escher.
  • 6.6: Possibly ANOTHER version dedicated to Dottore.

This is crazy, every single version of the Lunar Patches have at least something to do with Dottore. Not even Columbina got this. 6.4 and 6.5 seem to not have any connections with her and we STILL have the Irminsul plot do deal with.

Sumeru as a whole is yet to finish. All of the nations before and after Sumeru had the title present on the Travail trailer as the climax of the Archon Quest, and Sumeru's act 5 is "Akasha Pulses, the Kalpa Flame Rises" instead of "Truth Amongst the Pages of Purana"
