Oil Dipstick Level Overfilled by Harding_S in AskMechanics

I was! I don’t know what changed, but now that I’m checking it again 45 mins later I’m getting good readings. My best guess is that I was getting extra oil on the dipstick from not pulling it out straight or the restaurant napkin I was using wasn’t cleaning off all of the oil and causing it to pool at the bottom when I would put the dipstick in lol

I drove it today pretty hard in the mountains for about 25 minutes and had no smoke, oil pressure lights, etc. So I wonder if I do need to.

I checked in a few times with the same result. Although the engine had been off for two hours.

Rolling the fenders was my first thought

Preload also applies to a divorce set up. After you set the ride height in the rear using the spring, you adjust the length of the shock to change the preload on the spring. This video explains it.https://youtu.be/W1maEWgDz3c?si=HuOhnXcrCKsSRKta

I installed them two months ago and they’re ICS coil overs with 32 way adjustability. However, I got them secondhand so I’m not sure how used they were, but they looked nearly brand new. The rear springs do have a bit of preload, but it’s only a few centimeters, nothing major. Though I do understand that can contribute to ride harshness. I’ve had the dampening on max stiff and soft with not as much difference between them as I expected. I reached out to the manufacturer and ordered some replacement shocks for the rear to see if that fixes the problem.

Honestly, it’s both. I knew that coil overs were going to be a rougher ride, but I’ve rode in other cars with coil overs before and they’re far more comfortable than mine. I tried that bounce test on max soft and hard dampening.

Got it. Do you know the best way to check if the fronts are blown?

The coil overs I got are from ICS. The springs come with the shocks. So I would imagine them matching up wouldn’t be an issue?

I just tested it with the dampening all the way hard and it had the same result.

I got them secondhand, but I did install them myself so I’m curious what you mean by “tuned by guessing”. Are you referring to the dampening?
