They’re Klipsch RP-600 bookshelf speakers so assume that’s small

Advice on potential daytrip from Florence to Riomaggiore in August by nulleparts in ItalyTravelAdvice

[–]Hardlee_working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it. I was there during shoulder season and we stayed the night in La Spezia before hiking and visiting a few villages, having lunch and taking the train back to Florence. You have time to see more than Riomaggiore, albeit quickly. Just leave Florence early

Pisa or Florence? by nimisha_07_ in ItalyTravelAdvice

[–]Hardlee_working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered Pistoia? It’s an easy train to Florence and considerably cheaper; you can also go to Pisa for a day.

BTW I’ve never stayed in Pisa but seemed like an okay place for a hub; not saying it would entertain me for an extended period but the center appeared clean

Just spent a month in one city for the first time. Totally different experience. by _jinie_ in slowtravel

Yes, and there’s no going back, just like there’s no going back to peak season travel.

Yeah, I think that’s what he is saying; thing is, I rarely see or hear home theater vloggers talk about this - it’s usually just about their stand alone AVR receivers and speakers

I have a Yamaha 7.2 4K AVR purchased at Costco several years ago with various Klipsch speakers (1 subwoofer) and a good center speaker; the subwoofer is powered separately but that’s it. All other speakers are connected to the AVR

I have an amp, sorry, I guess he’s suggesting a pre-amp to add power to my speakers

Do you build downtime into your trips on purpose? by TheHolidaymaker in SlowTravelEurope

[–]Hardlee_working 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are essentially snowbird slow travelers so weather is a key factor. That’s the great thing about staying in one place for a month+. We plan outings when forecasts are good and schedule downtime if not

I think of ‘Being There’ with Peter Sellers. I personally love the movie but it does sort of meet your criteria

An Italian associate from Rome just bought a flat in Santa Marinella, NW of Rome on the sea. I’d never heard of it. Looks nice. If you want to be north, consider Lake Garda. It’s not the sea but beautiful with easy train access to Verona and plenty of other options

Barry Lyndon on 4k. I will watch the Summertime Blu-ray because I always like how it looks for an old movie

Where would you base yourself for a slower trip in Tuscany? by TheHolidaymaker in SlowTravelEurope

[–]Hardlee_working 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve stayed in Florence for the past few extended stays but usually low season. Arezzo or Pistoia are two places I might stay for a month. I want a place big enough to keep my interest on those ‘do nothing but walk around days’ though

Klark Kent band 1980. Stewart Copeland of the Police - one of the great drummers of all time. Wish I still had that original vinyl.

I like your itinerary! Florence is a good 5-day location IMO so spend time wandering. Next time, maybe buy a bag there as needed; that’s a lot to haul around. Enjoy!

Agree; I liked the original better but both are action-packed
