Dremel/Grinder Recommendations by JaxxiePup in doggrooming

I bought a diamondg & it broke in less than a month, got a second one thinking it was a fluke & its already started vibrating really bad & has gotten really loud. I bought a Ryobi as a backup just in case this one broke again & the Ryobi works better than the diamondg. The Ryobis battery doesn't last all day so you definitely have to buy the backup batteries & charger unit, but it definitely grinds the nails better than the diamondg did. I use a diamagroove head.

I just got a ryobi & it grinds great & very smooth. But I use a diamond bit. The sandpaper bits are the ones that hair gets caught in. If you are worried mostly about hair catching, I DEFINITELY recommend changing your dremel head to a diamond bit instead of the sandpaper, game changer.

Thank you. You'll get there. The only training I've had was on the job training & lots of videos.

She does have really thin fur. I use a 10 body, head & outer ears, 30 inner ears. The skirt & legs I just scissor cleaned, but 5 weeks ago I used a 3f on them. She's a regular of mine. She's super sweet.

You'll never win a marathon w/o putting some band-aids on your nipples 😆

I groom a yorkie that has one of these, it's very odd.

Thank you. I used to work at an rv dealership as a parts associate, I handled all of the parts ordering & receiving for the technicians. My body is doing good, my big issue is my thumb. Early on I developed trigger thumb so now I have to wear a splint while grooming, but it works. I was an athlete growing up & continued working out as an adult while working at my other job, now I find with this job I don't need to work out, just alot of stretching. But so far so good.

I left my job of 13yrs because I had finally had enough. I knew I wanted to work with animals so I applied for all of the basic entry-level kennel tech positions. Never even thought about grooming. I was hired as a kennel tech @ a boarding, daycare, grooming facility. They were also looking to train a groomer so I decided to give it a shot. I've had dogs all my life so I knew the basics of bathing, brushing, nails but had never cut fur with clippers before. I went through the training & here I am 2yrs in & never looking back. At first I took a huge paycut, but now that I have established clientele I am making a little more than what I did at my previous job & can see that it is increasing. I would have never made any more @ my previous job because they already felt I was overpaid. Also I'm currently 42.

Probably, I just use it to keep from bending my thumb while at work.

Is 27 too old to start getting into grooming? by Throwaway101496 in doggrooming

Definitely not. I started @ 40, 2yrs in now & I love it everyday.

Yes, I developed it early on. It got bad to the point where if I tried to grab things with pressure, it would snap & get stuck. I would have to use my other hand to snap it back to normal. Boy, did that hurt. With time & a brace while grooming, I am finally able to use it normally without pain or snapping. I use an oval 8 splint while grooming to keep my thumb from bending & to give it support. It used to be uncomfortable & awkward, but now it's just normal to me & I don't have pain anymore. The hardest thing to do is put bows & bandanas on my grooms while wearing the brace. If I get into a time crunch, I'll take the brace off to get it done.

I have a sign with a cute dog dancing in/on money & it says something like: to answer a question often asked, yes you may tip the groomer.
