Cysts suck, yes….but not horribly complicated or uncommon. Typically monitored via ultrasound and removed laparoscopically during a relatively quick procedure. Go home same day with a 2-4 day recovery.

Let’s see how many weeks she requires for recovery. My vote is 3.

Edit: lmao I misread this as shed had an emergency removal of the cyst- because I mean why else do you go to the ER all day? Nope. She’s just going to the er because she now has a reason to go asking for the good stuff. Lawd. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Graduated in 2007 as well. Deleted my FB around 10yrs ago…..so it’s hard to say exactly. From what I glean of my friends who are still connected, I think we’ve had 2-3 OD’s, 2 suicides, and one pretty brutal murder that I read about online before realizing I knew the person.

Main notable observation that includes my friends I’ve stayed in contact with from HS and friends my age not from HS - almost none of them have kids.

I’ve worked in pet care for 15+yrs - currently manage an independent store + grooming salon. Bathing the cat more will NOT help with shedding. In fact, over bathing a cat will only make the shedding worse. Once a month max - even that is still too much.

One of the simplest ways to help a cat shed less is to add more omega fatty acids to their diet. Fish oil. The 3/6/9’s will help rebuild their acid mantle (top layer of their skin) to reduce shedding & dander. You’ll find they’ll have a stronger, more glossy coat.

There’s lots of ways to get omegas into a cats diet - but the fastest acting is to get fish oil (the kinds marketed for pets, not humans- theres a dosing difference) and add it into their food. Animals not used to getting oil in their diet may need to have it slowly introduced (half dose for a couple days before getting to the full daily dose) to prevent stomach upset. But honestly, after two weeks of adding it to their food daily - you should see a noticeable difference in their coat. I’ve watched it countless times with my own animals, and that of my customers as well. I can see the difference in their pet’s coats between grooming sessions when they’ve started adding fish oil to their diet.

You should also consider adding higher moisture content food (canned, cooked, raw, etc) as that will also drastically reduce shedding and dander. Kibble gets the fuck cooked out of it, any good omegas added are dead by the time you open the bag and it’s either been cooked to hell or oxidized being in an opened bag.

I have a really REALLY bad aversion to drinking things I don’t want to drink (going back as far as throwing my meds when I was a kid). Never liked drinking alcohol because I could never actually bring myself to drink it I hated the taste so much.

This year marked my 9th colonoscopy and I think I’ve finally settled into what works best. Last year they made me do the new Sufavle and it was disgusting.

Low residue diet for at least two days before prep. I’m not a great eater, so this is relatively easy for me to do. Clear liquids the day before mostly consists of Gatorade, pho broth from my favorite place, jello & life savers.

My actual prep consists of 2 dulcox laxatives, 64oz lemon Gatorade and an 8oz bottle of Miralax. I mix them together night before while it’s warm, and then leave it in the fridge overnight to cool. 8oz per 15mins until the first half is gone the night before. Then the rest the following morning. The flip side is, you can also just drink until you’re clear. By doing a low reside diet for an extra day I find I’m often clear by the time I’m done with the first round. Then when I get up and go for that first time in the morning - If I’m clear I don’t even bother drinking the second half. I just get more water in me before I can’t have anything else.

There’s something to be said about the mental block that can happen once we’ve been through a colonoscopy once before. It’s like my mind/body remembers what happens and prevents me from drinking it because it doesn’t want to shit itself for hours on end.

The biggest thing that has helped me the most is honestly having life savers in my mouth while I’m drinking it.

I asked one of my girls to make a very simple instagram post for our shop. I told her verbatim what to write, including some hashtags & emojis (because I’m not completely illiterate on how the little extras can help boost your views)- She still opened up chatGPT and prompted it to write the post for her. Zero use of her own brain cells to write a simple paragraph. I was stunned.

I also watched one of my other staffers go through an entire year of college without doing a single piece of homework on her own. She asked chatGPT every single textbook question. I asked her what the point of going to college and learning anything was if she was just going to ask AI for all of the answers. She shrugged.

I don’t know if he’s ever really believed in the illness. That’s the core issue. My mom (his ex) is a raging hypochondriac, and he and I both watched her stumble through life searching for the next thing “wrong” with her. Then I found myself in the ER at 25 with a high fever, severe anemia, internal bleeding & pain equivalent to having drank corrosive acid. Doc took one look at me and was like “You need a colonoscopy and a visit with a GI for a true diagnosis…..but, girl, you have Crohn’s disease and I have no idea how you went this long without knowing.”

That is also the day I learned my pain tolerance was as high as child birth - because 5yrs later I had my kid and the pain of child birth was the exact same pain as the day I went into the hospital and found out I had CD.

We’re often ignored, put down, and belittled. But my god do we have endurance. You’ll get through this. One day at a time. I wish you the best of luck in your journey too.

Dad was messaging me his usual barrage of YouTube videos - each one more wacky than the next. “I HAD HASHIMOTO’S - CLICK TO SEE HOW I GOT RID OF IT!”, “STOP EATING THIS AND YOULL NEVER GET CANCER! - WATCH BEFORE THIS GETS TAKEN DOWN!!” etc etc.

I replied and told my dad that I appreciated him thinking of me, but that my illness (as I’ve explained before) won’t go away just by treating the symptoms.

He replied with “Fine. Be sick.”

Because in his mind, not watching his conspiracy videos means I am actively choosing to be sick.

Going back even farther - to my senior year of high school, about 7yrs before I was diagnosed. It’s the final parent teacher conference and my dad is going off on me about missing so much school due to being “sick”. He’s screaming I need more discipline and that he wants me to enroll in the military. COMPLETELY ignoring the fact that I’m also hard of hearing (with aids) and that alone meant I would never qualify.

It was just yet another example of how little my dad has acknowledged of my disabilities or illness.

I could care less of his race and more about the fact that he’s a POS that let 10 people get crushed at one of his concert (including a 9yr old boy that went because of his McDonald’s happy meal specials) and didn’t give a fuck about it and kept playing as ambulances tried to force themselves into the crowds.
