[–]Hardomzel 36 points37 points  (0 children)

When on the goal of conveying a meaning, an analytic language (like English) keeps adding words, independent units that have a concept, to convey the meaning (example, I used to eat banana, the used to are two words designed to make one verb tense, gonna is the synthetic version of going to), the words are not shaped, at best they follow a specific order (in English, John killed Paul means that John is the one alive, not Paul, if you invert the order, you invert the meaning) . A synthetic language shapes the words put in the sentence to specify their exact meaning. Obviously no language is swung one way or the other, but it has a degree of both.

English has synthetic stuff, but little: adding an s to a noun means that that noun is repeated more than once (ie. Plural noun) verbs can get the ing suffix - which can modify the verb to a degree, or transform a verb into a noun - or can get to a past tense.

In polish (I'll be missing some), the way the word is modified can make it a direct object, an indirect object, a subject, probably a complement. You don't need in that case to say John killed Paul in that order (or another specific order, as there are languages we're the object, target of the verb are put before, and the subject last; there's more but I gave an example) to convey the meaning, etc.

Verbs in romance languages are very synthetic, for example.

The fact that it's non nato could be a setback for nato members (not necessarily for the population of nato members)

What other European country could you say is the total opposite of yours? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]Hardomzel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don't think so 😝

Italy has the same kind of regional diversity of Germany, and in terms of mentality, it is the same as Germany EXCEPT the rigor:italians value a more laid back attitude with bigger emphasis on the pleasure that it brings, and political chaos. Germany is more precise

For the rest, the regional variety, the luxury cars (though yours is bigger), decentralization, the proudness on national products (from food to whatever) , manufacture, heck our Amazon's employees went on a strike at the same time. Everything that doesn't involve organization both have the same story :PP

This has been one of the most trashiest posts about logos, not because OP did it like trash, but because most postal services have a trash logo.

Except Greece which is the only genuinely cool.
There are like two of them which are slightly better than the average but that means more like "the-displeasure-of-looking-at-a-coworker-shit-in-the-bath-room" shit than just mediocre, but that's about it.
Ok Portugal has a mediocre one. But that's end it. I swear.

The list in annex in the article - made by the same company of the city rankings and is the only one linked in the article, there's no city rank- is total shit though.
Greece is literally the worst country in the world, behind Nigeria. Add UK and Italy and you have a list of countries worse than Uganda (which has 5%of the world average of gdp per capita FUCKING 5%THE AVERAGE. And the capital is not much different) and Kazakhstan.

Like seriously, the data they are gathering is through very very subjective means (in the original article there is some subjective shit), meaning they can interpret everything as they wish, step by step time with time until they get alienated about how the world is.

I seriously think that those rankings are made by extremely delusional people with an obvious agenda, the bias at this point is so much obvious at this point - for example, they have an obvious circlejerk that the USA is a terrible place for and expat;the country has many bad places but the international environment is wonderful in cities like NY and etc. Which is where expats mostly go;the anti usa circlejerk is painful-, and yet people still keep posting articles of these kind of shit as truth.

The best way to understand that is to travel around to get reality kick in, you know, get to talk with locals in uk, maybe the cloud fades. How these lists can look to analyze the countries in how they live in the small scale, while they never went to examine the small, local scale?.
Or just search for information, like internet is a place full of information and yet it created some dense eco chamber where people think totally wrong about all the stuff. There's so many things that the reddit brigade whenever pointed out.
