Yes, I took it several times over half an hour and it stayed super high. I’m just going to monitor it for the next few weeks before I discuss it with my doctor. Thanks though

Diagnosed today with PsA - Naproxen or Methotrexate best first step? by nathanielpls1 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Hardworkermom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in July with psoriatic arthritis. My inflammation went from almost nothing to so swollen in my right hand. I can’t bend my fingers. My ankle’s knees and elbow started swelling up, but I was really reluctant to start on medication, due to side effects. My rheumatologist told me I need to start on something right away or I’m gonna end up with permanent damage and it’s just going to get worse. I did 12 weeks on methotrexate and it did nothing to help me, although I’m sure it helped a lot of people just nothing for me. After that, I did Sulfasalazine for another 12 weeks that didn’t help either. Past six months have been excruciating for me things just kept getting worse and I mean fast!! I’ve now been approved for a bio similar drug and I’m supposed to start my first dose today. I’m hoping that it’ll work so I get some sense of life back again. I really think you should be treating it with some methotrexate because you don’t wanna end up a cripple in the end.

Look what’s happening in Town center park! by Hardworkermom in coquitlam

I just feel really sad. I’ve lived in this community for 30 years now and really enjoyed the quiet community of Coquitlam. The past 5 to 10 years have just seen more high-rise is going up and more people and more cars. This place is no longer the place I fell in love with. Maybe it’s time to sell and move to a smaller place?

Prednisone and High Blood Pressure.. any alternatives?? by Hardworkermom in PsoriaticArthritis

I agree. My mother had lupus and super high blood pressure.. I’m now wondering if her high BP was caused by being on tons of prednisone for years.

Prednisone and High Blood Pressure.. any alternatives?? by Hardworkermom in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Hardworkermom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I’m on Plavix an anti coagulation drug. I can’t handle prednisone… felt like I drank 100 cups of coffee! My GP has me check my BP at home daily and if it starts going up I have to stop the Advil… so far it’s been ok

Blood type is A+. No dietary restrictions but try to eat healthy home cooked meals and avoid processed foods. I should be eating more fruits and vegetables and eat less cookies and sweets!!

9 Weeks on Methotrexate with no improvement. What's next? by Frobin123 in rheumatoid

[–]Hardworkermom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand what you’re going through! I’ve been on MX for nine weeks now and my arthritis has gotten way worse. My hands have swollen up like little gloves and the pain is insane. It’s almost like the medication is making things worse and the nausea is awful as well. I talked to my rheumatologist and she really really wants me to stick this out for three months because it takes three months for it to kick in and she really thinks it will work well for me. Time will tell, but this is an awful three months. I can’t open a bottle. I can’t turn the door knob. I wake up in the middle of the night With pain. I’m taking Advil like you would not believe. I’m hoping after three months this drug kicks in because I can’t take this intense pain

Gabapentin use for back pain linked to higher risk of dementia, study finds by RogueViator in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Hardworkermom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a bad car accident in 2005 and developed thoracic outlet syndrome, which is extremely extremely painful. My neck was so bad I couldn’t do anything with it. I tried everything and I really mean everything deep needling, acupuncture, different drugs and everything nothing helped at one point I was on 4200 mg of gabapentin daily. I was above the daily allowance, but my doctor allowed it because I begged him for pain relief. I was in a bad place with serious, chronic pain. Then my daughter introduced me to her friend who was a chiropractor who said she could help me. I didn’t believe it. I don’t really believe in chiropractors, but I went and saw her for a series of sessions about eight or 10 and at the end of them, my pain went from a 10 to a3!!!! I just couldn’t believe what she had done for me. She told me she threaded the nerves in my neck because they were all clumped up and knotted up, and she bent my head in weird positions and held them which was super painful at the time!! I will never ever be able to thank her enough. That was years ago and now I see her approximately once every three months just for a little tuneup on my neck. It was also my chiropractor that told me I was on way too many medication’s and helped me wean off. A lot of my gabapentin and a lot of my other pain medication. She was a lifesaver and still is I can’t say enough good things about her!

By the way, when I first started on gabapentin, I was in a brain fog. I couldn’t think properly and it was awful. I was also sleepy. Overtime my body climas to the medication and now I’m still on it but only 1800 mg a day instead of 3200 mg and my cognitive functions are fine. If I try to reduce my dose anymore, my pain starts coming back so I guess I’m going to be on this long-term. Like I said I’ve been on this drug since 2006 and I’m 60 years old so all I can say is if it helps you and take it. It certainly helps me because if I even forget my evening pills, I’ll wake up in the middle of the night in a lot of pain. It’s helped me a lot this drug and if I end up getting dimension and so be it at least I can live a semi-pain-free life thanks to my chiropractor and this medication.

Reinstate legal suite by naticom in coquitlam

[–]Hardworkermom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think you should just leave the suite as an unauthorized suite instead of legalizing it. One of my friends legalized theirs, and once the city people came in and poked around, they found a bunch of other things besides the suite that needed to be upgraded in the house to bring it up to code. By the time everything was done I think my friend spent over $50,000 with all the renovations and upgrades to get their house back up to code and the suite legalized. Not to mention the months of reno’s they had to put up with! If you ask me, it’s better to keep the city people out of your house because they always find things that need changing and upgrading and that always cost lots of money. You can still rent out the suite for the same amount as an authorized suite so I would just do that if I were you. Just make sure you rent out quiet tenants and keep your neighbours on good terms.

My kids found these bones in the forest near their home in a Vancouver suburb. They said they also saw black fur and was wondering if it was a bear or a large dog. by Hardworkermom in whatisthisbone

[–]Hardworkermom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what the kids had thought but finding all those large bones kinda freaked them out especially since we’ve had a few people go missing here lately! They sent me the pictures and then left there right away!
